Exhaust,... make ur own or buy brand name

so i have a friend w/ a pipe bender capable of handling 3" piping, and is also a bad ass welder. so i was thinking of custom bending my own exhaust w/ it putting a muffler on the end (no cats), i already have a section of 3" w/ the 02 sensor so that aspect is already covered. would u try and make ur own or would u just buy brand name.

If I had the means, I'd go for makin my own.. you can get the sound you want (muffler) and you know the fit will be perfect.. finnish should be ok too if he is good.

only part i'd probably buy though, would be the downpipe. but for a catback hell yeah. saves some money and have some pride in it.

actually my friend it gonna make me the downpipe also, b/c he makes turbo manifolds beautifully so i figure i can trust him making a downpipe, i just have to find a place in n/c that has the right 3" piping for it. i'll post up pictures next week when i'm making it so show u how it comes out

i know you can buy the exhaust flange for the turbo and if you can make a bellmouth than hell you guys are set. definately take pics.

you could also do a divorced wastegate tube. that might be easier than the bellmouth.

i bought a downpipe and built my own cat back and it tucks up nicely and has a great sound. cost me 150 for the whole cat back

you also don't have to angle the exhaust and can get less bends out of it.

lol i went and bought my 3" piping today, just gotta wait till next week to get it over to my buddys house and do er up. definately will post pictures of the product, i think i'm going to do a slight angle and have it come out slanted like most exhausts for the wrx's

ebay u can get a decent one just don't get the $5 one b/c u get what u pay for. any muffler shop should be able to weld it onto the stock exhaust for u, but performance prolly wont increase at all
