yesterday i got it on the lift and pulled the trans and had everything ready to pull the motor. today i pulled the motor and pulled a piston. it had 6cc valve reliefs. so i had 12.17 to 1 :( there's no way i can get 11cc out of my pistons. a new set are 780 bucks. it also looks like i'm going to have to deck the block.

edit
i'm just going to order new pistons

i have the block all a part and it's going to the machine shop tuesday. after i find out if it needs to be decked or not i can order new pistons. i think i'm going to go with a bigger cam too.

a small junk yard by me has one. they have the best equipment by me. they have a really nice CNC machine.

the first time the block was done. it was done by general crank. i believe there in saint pete.

Since NAPA closed the machine shop I've been sending what little machine work we need to Brooks. I know a lot of people like to use Clearwater or Nelson's, but they can take a week just to check a head and our service dept. needs averything yesterday ya know.

i'm sure it's going to take a while. i asked if he was busy and he said he had 7 motors to build. i'm guessing 2-5 weeks. he didn't like the way the bearing where wearing and had me bring in the crank too. so he's going over the hole block.

i think it took 2 weeks for him to surface my heads, opened up the the seat for the head bolt and setup the valve springs.

witch nelson's?

i had head done by nelson bro machine and my head ended up needing another 200 worth of work after he rolled the valves, clearenced the bolts and so on and said they where done and perfuct..

Yeah, Auction Auto and Carl's are the only 2 shops I use in Pasco, both take pride in their work. Carl's is old school but he don't play around when it comes to rebuilds, it's either the right way or take it some place else:lol:
