Long story short, NASA-X Tampa is no more...

We are now known as FAST, and have a new website and new forum site:

web site: www.wedrivefast.com (http://www.wedrivefast.com/)

It looks like the old NASA-X Tampa site, and in fact is still in transition, but all the information on it will eventually be updated.

FORUM: http://www.kickflop.net/autocrossbb/ (http://www.kickflop.net/autocrossbb/)

Keep posted as we gradually migrate to this new forum site, but please feel free to head over and get signed up!!

IF you are planning to renew your NASA membership, with the single intent of running autocrosses, then DON'T, because you won't need it to run with FAST. IF you plan to use your NASA membership for other purposes, then by all means, please feel free to renew.

IF, you have already renewed, and only plan to run autocrosses, we will be offering to make it up to you - stay tuned...

The 2007 schedule will be the same - no changes.
Registration will be through myautoevents.com as soon as we get it set up.

Please pass the word to all your friends, and let everyone know: new name, but same great events, same great people, same great fun!

TBD...we're discussing budget and working the numbers. For the events run in St Petersburg, the cost of renting the St Petersburg College pad has gone up quite a bit.

FAST offers free membership.

As pullg said, we still in process of determining pricing per event...stay tuned.

I'm interested.....
Any tracks with a few 2-3 gear straits?????

My buddy was there @ the last event with the Silver Legacy GT. Could most likely get 2-3 more legacies out there;)

It is extremely rare to find a "straight" in autox. You might be able to hit 3rd at a Brooksville event, but most courses are done in 2nd. :D

Regarding cost, we're doing all we can to lower cost without giving up any perks (that's one of the reasons we ditched NASA, their fees were higher, and there was a "demand" that we turn a profit). Will we have $40 entry fees? No! But, unless Steve does something magical with the numbers, or finds a sponsor or two, we could end up at $35 for SPC just because they're charging so much for the site these days. Brooksville is looking good at $30. I wish we could charge less, but autocross is an expensive sport these days.

Wukindada, you'll find that this has been discussed before, but 3rd gear is and SHOULD BE a rare occurance at an autocross. Autocross is generally billed, and more importantly INSURED as a low speed event, with speeds not exceeding the low 60's. Low 60's = top of 2nd or bottom of 3rd for most of us.

At SPC, there just isn't enough room to safely go any faster. At Brooksville, there is room, but the airport folks expect us to keep it under 60. (because that's what the first autocrossers that approached them told them autocross was... and rightfully so)

If you really want to go faster, get thee to a race track! I gotta think that Legacy would hit at least 140 on the back straight at Sebring. Woohoo!

Wukindada, it would be great to see you and Dan and more Legacies out there. Like Muddy said, third gear at an autocross is gonna be rare, but that doesn't make it any more fun.

January's event can be unofficial Legacy Day - ya'll show us what you've got!

I'll be @ the next one:)

Not that he will be able to use it much but Dan's car is over 400whp after this past weekend

Do you have to register online beforehand or can you 'walk-in' ?

At St. Pete College - either. We're still getting set up on myautoevents.com, but will be - registration will probably open right around New Years for the Jan. 11 event.

Or, just show up early and register on site. At SPC it's limited to 60, so don't come too late...

For our Brooksville events, you'll have to preregister because the airport needs a list of those who will be on site in advance.
