I've got 2 of the rockford fostgate stage 3 4-ohm 500 watts rms subs and I was wonderin what amp would power them the best?I've heard mono amps are good for 2 if you use both subs on the same channel but I'm not 100% sure

If you use a mono (1 channel) amp, you will have to put both subs on the same channel

I'll start by giving you your options.

Your subs are dual 4ohm, 500w rms. A pretty good start....

If you go with a mono channel amp, you will wire the subs up in a 1, 4, or 16 ohm load. Obviously, you dont want a 16 ohm load, so 4 or 1 is the way to go here. Pretty much any amp will carry a 4 ohm load with no problems. If you go 1 ohm, make sure you get an amp that is 1 ohm stable (harder to find and more expensive).

Option 2, the way I would go for your subs, is a nice 2 channel amp that is 2 ohm stereo stable. Wire each sub to 2 ohms, on each channel. Efficient, easy to find and can be inexspensive.

I would look for an amp that is around 800-1000w rms and a decent brand. Every person will tell you a differnet brand to buy, but just use the internet to look up reviews and make an educated decision that you will be happy with.

Wire each sub like this and get a nice 2 channel amp.

Nope, profile / lightning audio and other brands are natorious for over selling their products. (their 320 watts is probably closer to actual 150 watts)

Rockford T1000.1bd

probably will do around 1500-1700 RMS @ 1ohm. Sounds like too much but its perfect really.
