How hard is it to replace a water pump in an LT1. Mine just went out this weekend this is the only thing i havent replaced on my car. Any tips that would make it easier on me?

My opti seems ok. Its leaking from underneath. The bottom part of the housing

your opti is ok for now but it wont be if you arent careful with the water pump.. make sure the coolant is drained before you take the pump fixture off

sounds like coolant is coming out of the wheep hole, changing the water pump is cake, I'm guessing you already took off the air pump, if so it's even easier then

easiest thing to change on the car. don't worry about getting the opti a little wet cause it works fine once dried. you should just forego another mechanical pump and get an electric one. the Meziere is about $200 but well worth the money. your motor will run so cold that your fans would almost never have to come on. you will just have to know how to use a punch, hook up a relay and cut ever so slightly into the fan shroud. oh yea, while all the stuff is out you should take the time to clean off and lightly silicone around all the areas where water can leak into the opti. mine has gotten wet several times since then without misfiring.

Id like to do the opti when i do the pump but since i dont have a dollar to spend at the moment, ill stick with just the pump. Ill be doing it this weekend.
