Hey guys,

My Hifonics 1500.1 is acting up. One day it just stopped working....Everytime I turn the volume up too much the amp goes into protection, before it goes into protection the amp stays lit but doesnt play any bass. I checked the ground, fuses and everything is fine. My high amp works fine, the the sub amp is acting a fool!

Hook the sub up to a multimeter and see what kind of ohm load you're throwing at it.

I know that one of the coils on the sub is blown but I kept running it because it didnt sound horrible as I didnt blare the sub. Do you think running the amp to a sub with 1 blown coil fried the amp? Is there somewhere I can take the amp to to get tested?

you cant test it with a multimeter yourself? dont own one?

I'll sell you a little one for 6 bucks. its perfect to keep in your car for running diagnostics when stuff like this happens.

Not necessarily blew the amp, but if the sub's coils are fried, it's running at a whole different ohm load now....which could throw your amp into protect. Check it.

I can tell you right now one of the coils on the subs is fried so Im guessing since I kept playin it an dplayin it and finally just killed the sub and now its throwing the amp into protect. Ill jus run one coil and see if this is the problem
