01/07/07.. Way North Run (ozello Trail)

Plenty of notice to plan for this one (and some time to let my bad luck wain)....This run will take most of the day, so plan on having a sore butt on Monday, we should put in 300 miles....

NORTH RUN TO OZELLO TRAIL

Run Info:
We will run the standard north run to Floral City (honk @ the horsies:D ), except we will run the Gobbler route once in Floral City. We will head north through a few Citrus County twisties and over to Ozello. We will have lunch at the cove on the end of the trail. Run the same route back to the Hess @ SR50 where the group can split from there or head back to Land O' Lakes. Should take about 7 hours with a lunch break and three fuel stops.

Pace:
1st half to Floral City will be fast in the corners (not as fast as JDR...only cause i aint) and slow in the straights. 2nd half out to Ozello will be moderate in the corners and moderate in the straights (to save some time as we will be in even more rural areas). Im sure this wont get too big, but if it does, we will split groups and i will need another leader, but we'll see.


Meeting Info:
Marathon Station, Corner of SR 54 & Collier Parkway
Meeting @ 7:30, KSU @ 7:45am SHARP!
Lunch will be at Peck's Cove @ the end of Ozello


This will be a LONG ride from Land O Lakes and back, but it will be very worth it! Think of your sense of accomplishment after 300 plus good miles!!!! So dont be scared and plan on riding!!!!

i will be scouting some roads for the trip between Floral City and Crystal River this week, maybe a little side route will be ok'd by the group, i thing i have a couple of good roads we can hit with only a little extra riding...i will post up in a few days...

Just remember the key to Ozello success: "The turns get tighter the farther you go down the road."

So its definitely recomended to take it easy on the first "lap" down the trail as some of the "S" turns can be tighter than you expect. There is one spot that a lot of people go down because the "S" turn is tighter than the pace you ride to get to that part of the road.

1st half moderate turns / 2nd half tighter turns ... you may ask "where is the sign that says you have entered the second half of Ozello and the turns get tighter??" There is none! :lol:

Its been a couple of weeks since i drove most of the route, hopefully it has stayed clean with all the rain, and hopefully i make all the right turns...either way it will be an adventure!!!!!!

I am going to have to miiss this one after all. Todays ride ran much longer than planned (almost 9 hours total)so I think its best to hang out with the wife and kids all day Sunday. Chad, Id like to hit those roads we talked about today ..... Next weekend?

1st time on Ozello in years....pretty good road, a little dirty in some spots, but good....
