installed a indash dvd/cd hu today and dont want to deal with only being able to watch DVDs when the e-brake is up. we grounded the wire to where the OEM radio was grounded and now DVD will now play even with the e-brake up. it gives me that safety screen of how you can watch movies while the car is driving.
is it ok to ground it to the same spot as the OEM radio was or do i have to do something different?
thanks for any help :)

If just grounding works than that should be good! Unless it's a Pioneer head unit I would say you should be good.

Ooo It ain't working at all.
Buy a toggle switch, connect the parking brake wire to one end and ground the other end. Problem solved.

^ That is a pulse sequencer, is just gives + or ground to a programmed lead for a programmed amount of time. The ones on ebay are programmed for ebay products but you can reset/reprogram them as you see fit.

OK so,
unlock the screen, hit stop twice, 1264, hit 'sys setup' twice
I cant beleive that asshole was trying to get people to pay for that sequence. thats pretty fucked up. I should paypal him 2 cents just so i can get his address.

Yeah that dude is an asshole... But i think it was funny reading the rest of it and everone one was clueless. They had no idea how to use a fucking toggle switch. Its either open or closed not hard, just like pulling the e brake.

I had an Alpine in my Mustang and went to a stereo shop a bought a bypass for $50 bucks, very easy to install, did it myself in only 10 minutes. Can't remember the name of the company that does them but almost any stereo shop should be able to get one if you have any reservations bout grounding it through where the stock stereo was, (and maybe even save a few fuses in the long run). Its universal and can be used for a dely on door pop actuators, etc.

Peripheral makes a bypass unit, the PTR7, and that might be what your talking about. Info is on the website:
Peripheral Electronics - iPod2Car Solutions (http://peripheralelectronics.com/prodDetail.asp?strProductID=675&strCategory=Specialty%20Items&strSearch=)
The link has nothing to do with iPod2Car, thats just how it shows up.

Wow yall are going about it the hard way I had a jvc 7 inch flip out dvd player and all I had to do to get my dvd player to work whenever i wanted to use it was take the wire that says Parking brake out of the back of the radio and tap it into the hot wire for my lights near the fuse panel. Dvd player works all the time and so do my lights.

not all dvd players are the same. the jensens require a pulse to operate... and even then sometimes they still dont work.

the reasons they dont work all the time are...
they are jensens and i think the parking brake has to be off before you turn on the car?

Why the hell would you touch it to a lawn mower battery? You probably fucked something up now. It's supposed to be grounded, not powered.

(What I did was I installed my radio entirely, then took the pink wire and touched for two seconds, removed for two seconds and then touched and held the negative pole of a mower battery laying on my passenger seat until the screen was no longer blue.)

that sounds stupid. period. put the radio back in the box, along with any wires, cell phone, computers, and general electricity using devices you may have.
