"Gumball 3000" styled road rally(Tampa to Cocoa) [Archive]

im hosting a road rally on February 10th.....it will start from my tattoo shop in Tampa, break in Orlando at another tattoo shop, and end in Cocoa Beach at yet another shop...where the party starts......

this starts on a Sat.

we will be spending the night in a La Quinta inn, its just a mile from the last stop.....(thats why the registration fee is what it is...)

* the party will start at the last shop and them migrate 30 feet away to the venue where well have dj's and a few bands doing a show for us....

a little bonus...the beach is right across the street.....

so you are paying for a roadtrip/party rather than a "rally", either way i think i wanna stay as far from this is possible, infact i didn't even post... :oops:

oh and to clarify, rallies are races... just trying to post the best time in a timed/staggered starting grid, rather than a mass exit all at once, so seeing as this is being advertised heavily in multiple public places, I am sure you will have plenty of friends and on lookers in medians and on shoulders the whole way ;)

im not paying for anything...the registrars are......and it is a rally, were recording all start , checkpoint and destination arrival times to get a winner, but we dont want people doing 140mph the whole way either.,.....so im not emphisising the "time " aspect of it too heavily....

there will also be prizes for "craziest ride", "most spirit", and other catagories....

so...why do you guys fear this run??

i dont get it....if your that scared of getting in trouble DONT SPEED!...its that easy..

its not illigal to ride out in large groups....hell the army does it all the time!

ok.....the fees are covering alot of stuff...

magnatics decals for the cars
t-shirts
laminants
the hotel room
and entry to the party and venue

this is a very well organized event.....were gonna hve real sponsers , and its gonna look legit on the road......

the idea behind you guys paying me one fee is so i can handle all the bullshit.....you guys just need to show up and drive....

if you dont pay, you run the risk of not getting a room, or being in a diff. hotel....

no decals, shirts and youll be paying to get into the party....

i want to de this in one big group...check the myspace for more info...

ill have all that up soon, but were looking at 12-noon to be there by, and i think well be heading out about 2......

this way most of out driving will be daytime and well get into cocoa in enough time to check in and get ready with pleanty of time to party......

yes thats right...the $150.00 covers the room..and the decals, shirts and laminants for the driver and co-driver......

for an extra 25.00 per person you can have passengers....but they stay in the same room...they do get a shirt and laminent.....

good question....but its a bit unrealistic that in 4 months he cant get someone to ride with him......but if he cant maybe well group him with you....than he'd save cash from the room, we'd only charge for decals and shit..........well see, keep me posted.....

Here's an option for the guys that are riding bikes:

Since we will be staying the night, I WILL NOT leave my bike outside/overnight in CoCoa Beach. So I can call around as the date gets closer and maybe we could get a storage unit just for the night to store our bike in. I'm not even sure if anyone is willing to do that but it's worth a shot cause this sounds like it would be fun.

LMK what you guys think...

as far as entertainment for the party goes......weve lined up a pre-party at the last shop....with drinks, karaoke and music.....than we planned to migrate next door to the club and have live music and djs......live music being punk rock bands.....(the dead popes, elysium, stranded)

After seeing a post like this I know I made the right choice by not signing up.

Honestly after looking over everything it looks more like the Ghetto Gumball 3000. Sorry but I would not even want to be caught on the same road as your "road rally".

I'm not sure if it has to do with the fact that I would not want to be seen with some of the POS cars that will signup or the fact that its a joke of a rally.

Maybe I will sign up for one of the real ones next year.

i think your poor attitude towards those who have 'flaked out' shied those of us away who might have acutally been genuinely interested. its obvious you are new to organizing events or you else you would have expected only a 5% return from most enthusiasts. if maybe you had presented yourself in a more professional manner and related to us differently upon being discouraged, things would have been different, im sure.

i, for one, wont be participating in an event such as this for several reasons.

1) you portrayed it as a rally. everyone knows what that means when it comes to this type of event. when those of us who asked about it, you back peddled on your interpretation of the word in order to sedate our nervousness and gain more people.

2) as the thread chugged along, the idea behind this event morphed time and time again from a time race, to a rolling car show, to a group of people just going to party. then BS prizes were thought up along the way, etc. If you had made a single post in here saying blah blah blah, heres the amount, blah blah blah, heres ALL the prizes, heres ALL that your money gets you, blah blah blah... that might have been more informative and more professional rather than come here guys. please please please.. oh wtf noones coming?!

3) stickers and tshirts arent enough to entice someone to give you their money and trust you wholely. who are you? not too many posts on this site and havent been around for a whole long time.. trust here isnt given out. its earned. maybe if you hosted events prior like shows and whatnot, and gained the respect of those here, you wouldve gotten more people involved in this.

well actually, im not new at this at all, ive been promoting events and having parties and shows for years, i own a tattoo shop...

as for this site, i knew i would only get a few (if even any), people from here to go, most of you are kids who love good ideas but have no motivation to follow through with them, i tried hosting a car meet for everyone on friday nights, and nobody came out, and that was free!

all of the information changing, um no, it was on the myspace from the start...i simply answered questions along the way in here, the meaning of "rally" never changed but i wanted to let you all know, that it will be what you make it, and driving in a huge pack would look great!, and speeding would be done at you own risk.... and for the BS prizes...thanks but i guess i dont have your approval to come up with fun stuff as the planning for this progresses...

the only reason i even left this thread up was because of the 3 or 4 people that have told me that they were coming down to register, and still havent so whatever...

so for the record , this is the second decent thing ive tried to organize, and include the people from this site, and you have al proven how much you like to depate its "coolness", and not even give it a chance....

yet i still have pricks like you trying to tell me that im wrong.....this is a well organized event , and the people that have actually been participating in this are gonna have a blast , and assholes like you will watch the videos and make smart ass comments about it because you didnt go....

in closing, if you dont wanna go DONT.....but keep your shitty attitude and bullshit speeches to yourself!

oh yeah , any one that doesnt trust me......or know me...COME ON IN TO MY SHOP!!!!!

thats all you need to do and i can go over all the details of this in person!
but remember , this is tha last week to get registered, or you dont go this year!
