Spring Break Cannonball Run??

Don't know if anything like this has been done before but I was thinking maybe we could organize a TR Cannonball Run or Gumball type of thing from Tampa to Daytona beach for spring break. Is there any kind of interest in something like this?

I'm using the poll to try and get a feel for how many people want to go, a definate amount can be found out later.



Leave: Saturday March 10, 2007
Return: Same day or stay the week, your choice.

Stops: Tampa- Meet up someplace near I-4 to choose a 2-way radio frequency/get cell phone numbers.

Orlando- Stop for lunch somewhere, get gas if needed. (probably wont need gas by then though :) )

Daytona- Choose someplace, Beach, Restaurant, Mall, whatever

Price: As of now its free. If we decide to go to a nice restaurant or get a reservation ahead of time it might cost a little bit. Should be under $20 a car if anything though.
Donations are welcomed to possibly make this into a sort of charity run.

Anyway leave feedback;suggestions/ideas/route planning, maybe we can get something going.

As suggested I am starting a list. Please leave your name if you plan on coming. And yes more than 10 people can come, I will add more slots as needed.

Umm why dont u wait and to it on the weekend of the 27th and 28th when the Spring Break Natinoals Car Show is in Daytona and have everyone go to the car show..its usually like 15 bucks to get into the building but they have some stuff outside too...Just a thought though :-D

Cool, Im gonna try and get some more people involved so that plans can be made in advance. Another thing to consider is maybe everybody chips in and the first one to Daytona wins some sort of prize. We'll see.

I'd personally love this, but I think because of the fact many people on this site have a daily job they must attend to that it's better we shoot for just Daytona for now, a longer run would get less of a turn out in my opinion. I know that if it's just to Daytona I can get several of my friends to come with their cars.

we have alot of creative people on here that can edit the raw footage and we also yeah some great djs ( I have retired from djing but will lend a hand) the sound track can incorporate rock, hip hop, alternative anything fast paced. they can be blended in a regular dj mix with music that will appeal to everyone

Just a thought... I know before saying this that many people will think this is stupid but hear me out.

Many of these events require a charitable donation. We wouldn't have to do a lot of money but somewhere between $20 and $50 each. There is the potential to raise thousands of dollars for a charity to be voted on, but there are a lot of charities out there that could benefit from our fun. Not to mention that from a greedy point of view when some of us end up in front of a judge to try to explain why we were one of about 15 speeding cars at over 100 mph we also raised $4000 dollars to donate towards helping homeless children find families or something like that. Just a thought but you could all do something good that would only require a small contribution and could do something great. Events like this always get negative press which means lots of cops. putting a positive swing on things would really help out.

again just a thought but please some input. maybe even suggestions for a charity?

Sorry ive been neglecting this lately im busy selling my car, going to school, and trying to buy another car all at the same time.

Just wondering if there is any interest in mixing in some back roads maybe, not just straight highway driving. Either way works for me because it isnt that long of a trip. Also any ideas on where to stop in Orlando?

Well, an event ill actually be able to goto(deployed right now) i was told about this event on team-integra.net from a friend of mine o im pretty sure there is going to a good amount of integras showing up....ill be there with my boosted 2000 LS :)

as far as questions go......hmmm i know the cops are going to be a huge problem if we do infact do this like the real gumball event. so i suggest everyone have a radar detector....im actually moding mine to fit into a pod's place :) hopefully ill have it done by then.

I hope to have my car up and running by the time this event comes around. Count me in. My two cents, I don't think they're going to block lanes of an interstate highway so that we can race our way to Daytona, regardless of the size of our chairtable donation to any cause. However, it may be prudent to notify authorities ahead of time of the intent of this event. Fourty people in performance vehicles moving down the highway at high speeds tends to draw negative attention. If we notify ahead of time, at least they can respond appropriately to speeders and what not without getitng the rest of the event participants in trouble.

Hey guys, sorry I havent responded in a while. Ive been back in Atlanta for about a month so I wasnt really on the boards that much. I would like to try and get a really good estimate on how many people are coming so I can possibly set some sort of reservation at a restaurant in Orlando. Nothing to fancy, just want to warn them before 30-70 people show up. Remember anyone is allowed to join.
