We use to be able to do it for the year. But now they want it per event. Its in case they get audited.

Remember ALL Helmets must be Snell 2000 or M2000 or higher. IE M2005
the old M95 ones are no good.
So all the spare loaners we have are now no good. So we have no spares.

lol, yeah. At the time I didn't know nothin' about nothin' and bought the cheapest Shoei I could find... I guess there was a reason it was so cheap, haha.

Time to upgrade I guess. Maybe Pep Boys has 05's...

Get a motorcycle helmet from a cycle shop, You should be able to find one for around $100. The MX styles are cheaper, actually when in comes time for me to replace my m2000 I plan to get an open face for the car events.

Check out ebay..
eBay Motors: $219 WHITE SNELL MOTORCYCLE STREETBIKE FULL FACE HELMET (item 120041269502 end time Oct-18-06 17:30:24 PDT) (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/219-WHITE-SNELL-MOTORCYCLE-STREETBIKE-FULL-FACE-HELMET_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6749QQihZ002QQit emZ120041269502QQrdZ1)

I purchased a full face so I also could use it on the cycle.

eBay Motors: G-Force GF-750 Open Face Fibreglass Helmet Snell SA2000 (item 200037216412 end time Oct-20-06 06:00:26 PDT) (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/G-Force-GF-750-Open-Face-Fibreglass-Helmet-Snell-SA2000_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ107069QQihZ010QQ itemZ200037216412QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW)

Can someone from the BMWCCA club pass along word that I can't make it? I tried to go to MyAutoEvents.com and send an email through there, but the site is down.

I know they like you to email and cancel if you can't make it... I'm trying, but I can't!

I'm not pulling out voluntarily... I found out today that the car has a spun bearing and needs a new motor. :-( Long story for a different thread.......

Soon enough.
When I'm sure another 30mm of rubber will fit under the front fenders.:naughty:
I bet I won't even need to look out of the side windows to see where I'm going.

BTW nice runs, as usual.

BAN MIATAS!!!

I ran a 53.635 and was very happy to pull that off with my pig of a car -- I was "only" like a second off from some of my e36 M3 friends.

That was the most fun I'd had at an autocross yet (it was only my third), except for that last 90 degree left near the end... my car HATED that.

I noticed you had a rather unique approach to it. You brake as you entered it, accelerated pretty hard, then braked again as you made the left. I am thinking the second brake was to shift the weight of the car forward to get more traction to the front tires? Really seems like you're getting the most out of the car, I told my friends there you were going to pull the best time ;)

You were the guy with the mustang???

It was GREAT watching you whip that oversteering beast around course :)

I meant to post this the other day, but with Brian's vid I look like I am driving a shopping cart with a wiggly wheel.

Sorry for the pixelation...I tested the mount on a smoother surface...will be adding some insulation.

I want to lend Drew my camera...I need to see him going through the slalom!

To finish, starting at the 3rd to last cone in the slalom, which is the cone where the slalom began to open up, I was at full throttle. That caused me to carry too much speed into the offset gates. So, I braked to enter the offset gates, then got back on the throttle. I braked again to make the left and right through that sea of cones and got back on the throttle as I was turning right.

The part the impresses me the most about my run, and probably made the biggest difference in my times, was making that left/right so smooth and fast. It took a lot of steering input to get through there, and it was not easy. :nerd: I imagine Andrew must do the same thing through the entire course.

330SMG- A few things I noticed about your run; you are turning too late and too much and you went through the turn around too wide. Turning earlier and turning less will allow you to carry more speed. Keeping a tighter line will allow to cover a shorter distance. The less distance you travel, the faster you will be.

Comments welcome. I understeered a bit too much at the turnaround and could have taken that smoother, and could have been probably faster in the initial few gates. This run was after hitting cones twice in a row, so I slowed it down a little and didnt hit any.

It looked like you turned a little late once or twice, and you took the slalom on the wrong side entering the turnaround. A little more air in the rear tires would help with the understeer.

Hopefully, I am not insulting anyone by trying to offer advice. ;) I know I have upset someone by doing that recently. :D

I didnt feel like messing with my tire pressures much -- I was actually going to do just that and reduce pressure in my front tires too, but I just felt like running the car the way it was.

I actually preferred taking the slalom to the left as I ended up with fewer turns and the exit seemed easier to make, after watching people take it on the right repeatedly I felt the left was best for me. If I had more time I'd have tried it the other way around.

Thanks for checking the video and the advice =)

On all of the turns or just the turn around?

I am usually more patient...but it was hard to judge the turn around because of the slalom right before it. I also was late on the l box at the end, but that was out of fear of catching my right rear on the last cone. I was rushing through the course because I knew I was going to lose time to Russ in the box.

And djben...definetly take air out of the back. I had 48 hot upfront and 36 hot in the back and the car was very neutral.

You were turning the steering wheel too late, everywhere. Compare your video to mine, and watch the steering inputs. Mine are smoother, for the most part :), and I use less steering input. You can see when my car turns, I am not turning as sharply or abruptly.

It felt that way all day, kind of a step behind, I am usually more crisp but I was pressing since I had clipped a cone with my right rear wheel on my first 2 runs and was obsessing on the box at the end. I ran a 53 something the run before but I clipped 3 cones so I was a little timid on this run and just wanted a decent one in the bank since I only had one run left. This run was not one of my better efforts I was just manhandling the car to post a a respectable time , but thanks for the observation.
