Default Got a Ticket this Morning on Big Red

While headed into work this morning around 9:30 I noticed a FHP riding my tail.
Since I have no mirrors, I had no idea he was behind me.
Typically I do a look back every minute or so... this time, there he was.

I pulled into the middle lane hoping he may just blow past.... no luck... lights and sirens.

I pull over, kill the bike, remove my helmet and look at up the officer...
"Do you know why I pulled you over?" he asked.
"My guess would be for speeding officer." I replied.

We had a little dialogue, typical stuff, to include the question:
"Do you have any idea how fast you were going?" he asked.
"Honestly, No Sir. I really do not" I replied.

I babbled a little bit about gearing changes and speedo inaccuracy... not as an excuse, just to support that I honestly had no idea how fast I was going.

"You were traveling in excess of 1XX mph, between road "X" and road "Y"..." he stated (the X's are purposefully there to add ambiguity... would not want to get the LEO into trouble).
"Ut-oh" I replied.

... and he asked for my license & registration.

He spends a few minutes in his car and returns with a ticket and a brief (and well deserved) lecture.

He opt'ed to give me a "Warning" for the excessive speed and to cite me a ticket for an expired tag.... which I totally did not realize I had.

We talked a bit more about the bike and safety on the roads.

Long story short... being respectful, humble and having all your bases covered with license, registration, insurance and gear can work to your advantage.

He absolutely could have taken me to jail and impounded my bike.
However, he handled the situation differently.

Thank you FHP!

Its liek 76 bucks right>? If you go get it fixed it will end up being liek an 8 dollar ticket...

But since my bike is totaled, and a new plate and tag etc is liek 160 bucks im just going to pay the ticket.

Nice luck with the speeding ticket lol..

Way to be respectful. Even though most people hate cops, be respectful and you might just get out of it...

I got pulled over for 127 in a 55 and got a "failure to obey traffic device sign" $110.00 My method.... When the cop walked up I said " I fu*ked up" and tossed my hands in the air I was respectful, and we joked around for a bit..

i was no like "no way big red got pulled". But what ya gonna do when they are trailing you? And yes, being respectful has 90% of the time gotten me out of tickets whether on a bike or in my car.

I got pulled last night and the cop let me off since I was straight with him and didnt make any excuses. That seems to be the best way to get off easy. There are sometimes that I have no idea how fast I'm going cuz I'm not paying attention and the cops usually think I'm a for not knowing how fast I'm going.
