It's worth a try to throw a cleaner cd in there...atleast it's cheaper than a whole new unit. Is an error code coming up or what? And are you trying to play burned cd's?

A error code came up twice today, store bought cds. Tonight it played okay most of the night.

what kind is it and what error code was it?
yeah, brand and describe how you wired it would help :)

How he wired it up wouldn't really affect it. It's most likely an internal problem.

fyi if the unit is not grounded properly some will be able to do a lot of functions exept the cd part
example: grounded through the antenna

when i first started messing with my stereo i accidentally hooked A wire up wrong, can't tell you which, thats why i say A wire. Anyways the stupid thing would turn off halfway sucking the cd in and then the cd would get stuck in it. Then it would turn on and off and sit there cycling power, although you couldnt tell, only when the car was off and quiet you could hear it clicking and buzzing. Took a dismantling and fucking around with pieces of a cd player in order to figure it out. Wired it up properly the last time and then it worked fine, it couldve been that the ground was loosely placed, i dunno.
but yeh, best bet is the thing is just fucked and its time to throw the cd player at the seller and get another one

It probably wouldn't be throwing an error message in that case.

why not? insufficient power to drive the servo I would assume has an error code.

Tossed a cleaning cd in and it was working. Today I was listening to the radio and it just stoped playing, still on the station but no music then music then no music. If someone wants to fix this thing I have beer and cash.:D

that sounds like an internal amp problem. I would look at the wiring/RCA leads.
i would just get a new cd player, that sounds really gay.

One of the door speakers came loose and caused it, the semi solid motor mounts I put in the car shoke it loose.
