help with rx7

i bought a rx7 gxl yesterday and went drifting in it.

i was having fun until i hit the rev limiter and it made a funny noise.. the whole rest of the night it kept making a pop/bang noise.

i think it has rod knock, can anyone help me?

i don't know if there are rods to be knocking in a rotary engine at least that's wht i gathered in the article i just read. i don't know much at all about rotary engines except that the inside wobbles around to make some power.
