alright my problem is that behind my back seat isn't that sturdy sooooo when i tried to drill my amp and cap up to it then amp fell out. so i was wondering could anybody build me a little box to nail my two amps and cap to where it would fit behind my subs. i drive an avalon so trunk space really isn't issue. and if thats a success i want to get a different box for my three subs. thanks. thomas.

You just need to mount a piece of wood on the backseat first. Find the supports in the seat and screw it to them. Then mount the amp and cap to the wood. You can even carpet or paint the wood if you want it to look halfway decent.

i wouldn't know the first place to look and get some wood at or how to custom fit it to make it go behind my back seat.

Its relatively simple. dont try and think of it as anything complex, go to home depot, they sell woods of all varieties, sizes, densities, thickness, etc. You will find soemthing nice there. Look on your backseat or feel for the actual supports (if your backseat is like mine, most of it consists of a big ass block of foam around a main support structure for the foam and then the p/leather around it.
Drill the wood directly into the support beams/panel. Then just mount your stuff to it and enjoy :P.

1/2" MDF works best for mounting amps - 3/4 if they are super heavy or if you have a very lage area to traverse.

Go to Home Depot, buy a small sheet of plywood (1/4-1/2" thick would be fine)maybe twice the size of your amp. Spray paint it black. Feel your back seat for supports...screw the wood to those supports. It's not brain surgery.

Yup, its so much more fun than car audio.
See what happend was one day I was napping at like 3am and I woke up for a second and night rider was on and kit started up and drove off by itself and I was like wtf am I putting subs n shit in cars when I should be making them start by themselves.
Anyways, ill prolly be undercutting the alarm market by 70% for a few years and then move on to something more complicated than that(as ill have my degree yey!)

yeah do plywood.. mdf is fine for boxes but a piece of 1/4,3/8 or half inch schould be plenty.

u loser, this is how that "accident" happend...
You were having gay sex with some guy when his boyfriend came home and started kicking your ass. You ran as fast as you could to your car and took off, but the gay guy had a 350z and pwned your little 4banger and when he caught up he started taking shots at you from his 9mm. But you're columbian so you just pulled out the ak47 you keep hidden under the seat for those big drug deals. Anyways, so he was like oh shit and he started swerving around and hit a big pothole. And in turn that caused him to lose control and swerve and thats when you hit him. Luckily, your system wasnt damaged so you just grabbed the Villiage people CD you keep on hand at all times and cranked up YMCA and started dancing. Because thats the weakness of all gay guys, he was forced to start dancing immediately and you were able to make a clean getaway.
George Bush doesnt care about villiage people.

I think that propane they filled at your house when you werent there is leaking into your a/c system...
btw dont tell people about the ak47 i have in my car, it'll become a target and they'll try to break into my car and steal it.

i went ahead and did the shit. took me all day. got the wood from home depot, took it to my uncle house to cut it to fit my trunk. took my back seat out. then i bolted the wood to my frame and was good. now im in the process of rewiring everything so it will be real clean in my trunk. now all i need is notladstyle to put my alarm in.

dude i dont think the problem is the drill i think its that your are trying to drill a nail, try a screw it might work better

i did have a screw. i didnt mean a nail for real. i tried it again with my handy dandy 20 dollar drill and it work so everything is up and working. but my problem now is that my kenwood amp that i'm using for my highs cuts on and off. i have four tweeters that i put in each door thats hooked up to it. is that the problem.

tweeters dont overload amps unless the gain is set too high. Even 4ohm DC tweeters will meter 12-16 ohm impedance at 5khz

its hard to say with out seeing it but try breaking down the system until the problem is eliminated. then you will have a better idea of whats wrong.

what i kind of think is the problem is that i have too many things hooked up to it, cuz when i had it powering jus my 2 6x9's it never cut out, but again that was before i unwired everything and then wired it back.

how many watts total are you running? and how many watts is the amp. might not have all the power to run everything. try going back to your old set up and see if it cuts out if not then your amp dosent have the power needed.

positioning of the amp? Are the heatsinks blocked or is the amp on its side?
chi-townsfinest
09-28-2006, 11:14 AM
the amp is drilled up to my back seat. i really dont know if the heatsinks are blocked or not. what i think the problem is, is that i what to much stuff running to it, and does not have enough power. the amp is only a 600 watt but i also have a 800 watt and i didn't put that in in the first place because i thought it would be to much.

How many watts it is wouldn't be the case. If it's a 2 channel amp and you have like 6 speakers hooked up to it, that would do it. Try turning the gains down and the crossover up.
