View Full Version : A Nissan product idea

i have a great idea for a product in the nissan sr20det swap line, as currently needed by myself... to save alot of hassle, and a bit of pocket change...
it's going to be rather cheap to produce, and going to have a good markup on material and time.
it's going to take a few hours to prototype,
and a few minutes to piece each kit together afterward
i'm talking about a pre-cut silicon vacuum line kit
something that just about everyone could use, to replace those old rubber lines that probably sat in a junkyard over in japan for months or years unprotected, and have been hacks and chopped in the install period
you could sell them to people not only as a upgrade, but offer them for people who are buying motorsets for a nominal fee... i know if i had the choice i would spend the extra 50-60 bucks for all new silicon lines...
and not have to face the issue i'm having right now tracking down all of these damned vacuum leaks
besides, just think of the blink of fresh bright red hoses routed around your redtop without all the hassle of piece together and fitting your own kit

Sounds like a very good idea. We will look into it and see what we can do. After doing a good number of SR swaps, we also are considering a coolant line kit for within the intake manifold. These lines are notorious for going bad due to the motors sitting for a good amount of time.
Thanks very much for the idea!

I am interested. How far are you from my shop? Maybe it's a good idea to have the person that's interested to point out what we should include. Give me a all and let me know.
Thanks

i'm a good ways away, atleast an hour, if not two.
it's not very likely i'd be able to drive the car down
i figured that at a shop like yours, you would have atleast a few sr clips around that the prototype could be done on in a few hours
it would just take someone some time and a little effort
with a inital prototype, it would be just as easy as holding the line out and cutting pieces the same length for the first few kits
i bet if you started a group buy, you would have 5 buyers before you had the kit finished...

Ya, I don't mind doing it, I will get started on it ASAP. There are different ways of running it, and things such as that. I have never personally installed kits like that in the past, I know they do include different diameters and what not.

how much do you think you will charge if we wanted the kit? (esp for a ka if you decide to do them)

We can do both with NP, as for cost, honestly, it should not be that much at all. I will get something worked out this week and let you guys know

they very much do not make nor sell a vacuum line kit
i just got off the phone with someone over there, and they said they had seen this and were considering doing a kit in the next month
but as of right now, it would be roughly 3 hours of work to have them all cut and fitted, and at 70/hour, that's fucking 210 dollars for a vacuum kit... which is fucking retarded, for that price i better get some goddamned platinum hoses with princess cuts along with a blow job.
Ian, maybe you should jump on this before they do and charge an arm and a leg on them

can i just assume this is never going to happen through your company?
If there is serious interest in this then I will see what it takes to make it happen, for cheaper than you were quoted for.
