using some kind of "slippery" substance to help the car slide in the desired or undesireable direction is a great way to learn how to maneuver a vehicle in a "drift" fashion.
Requires very little driver effort, less wear on the vehicle since most of the wear is between the tires road surface, and it uses the car's momentum (weight) to carry it's speed.
....i have no idea what i said there
But seriously, that's a great way to start learning how to control the steering when the car is going "sideways".
Team 15 started out their training this way too. There are clips if anyone is interested in seeing it. Contact the following members of the original Team 15: SideHappySide, Pineapple, SlidingRPMS13
People associated with the training is me (ImportLuv) and S14Monkey.
btw, superK...that spot sucks. Too much space and "open-ness" There's no challenge in a course like that.

Holy shit that is old school. Funk remember the prelude?!?!?! Hahaha. I have some old footage here from around and before that time frame from a couple other spots. I'll have to find the stuff from laurel and 78th st.
I garauntee that 95% of the people on this board have no clue about what I'm going to talk about because they jumped on the bandwagon.
Back when HitechRedneck went out. "Look at that fucker eating a cheeseburger!" as the Ladies Man was doing doughnuts. Hahaha!!! those were the days with the sunday drift specials. Oh man I miss it. Taka and his Trans Am. The Jdm cop. Getting busted 3 times in one day without a single ticket. Steve popping the bead on the civic as the Ladies Man chased him at the empty Renaissance(sp) festival parking lot. Back when Dr. Evil had the 944. Holding 2nd gear in with Hatchibill sliding BSq. When Y2Jay had the red civic. Chismoe.... 3rdshift!!!

Have fun sliding there anymore. We used to slide there for about 6 hours at a time even on a Sunday lunch special. But now a 24/7 business operates out of that building and you'll be lucky to slide 2 minutes with out getting a hefty fine. That spot has beed dead for a couple years now.

Kamikazee used to run the toles at 130mph in the Z32. RIP.
Tampa East is when Taka had his 86 NA coupe out. Before Rob bought that red civic hatch.
The good ol' days. I remember going there the night after I got arrested with Bryce at 78th St. I told everyone to go to Tampa East and to NOT go to 78th cause they were arranging a bust that night. What happens? About 20-30 people (everyone from the 3rdshift crew) listened to me and over 300 didn't. so many cars were sent to impound. We raced from 10pm till 8:30am.
And Meridian with the carneys running around with axes...

i used to deliver pizzas in my s13 and slide through the appartment complex entrences because the sprinklers would come on every night at like 8 and they would wet the road just enough, and the entrences have little winding roads and their all newly paved

Dude this is back in the day when we were learning and didn't want to go through tires. We would be at these spots for 6 hours straight. You have no idea. We stripped the blacktop off BSq
MR2oldschool
09-06-2006, 10:43 PM
its smoother and you have more time to react, because the car is moveing slower but still sliding, and its quieter, and doesnt tear up tires as much
buck19
09-06-2006, 10:49 PM
Oh, forgot about it being quiet!!! And no tire smoke to show the cops where we were.
