i Am Driving Along I-75 Yesterday When I Notice These Little Oval Looking Headlights. The Car Porbably Trails Be For About Oh 10 Miles Before He Decides To Start Something. The Car Finally Gets Side By Side With Me And Thats When I See The Chrome Srt-4 Badge. The Speed Limit Is 70mph On I-75. I Was Probably Doing Around 85mph. The Dude In The Srt-4 Looks Over At Me And Does The Little Wanna Race Head Motion.so I Shake My Head. We Drop Our Speeds Dramatically. I Drop Down To About 40mph, And So Does He.i Beep 3 Times And Jump Immediately About 3/4's Of A Car On Him, By The Time I Hit 125mph I Probably Had About 5 Car Lenghts On Him. I Let Off And He Catches Back Up And Yells " I Missed A Gear." I Say Okay Lets Go Again.so We Back Down To 50mp This Time. I Beep One, Twice And He Floors It.i Floor It In Pursuit Of Him. He Is About 1/2 A Car On Me Till 100mph .... Once We Get To 140mph I Had Him By 4 Car Lenghts. We Pull Over He Says What Kinda Car You Have ? A Grand Am ? I Give Him A Funny Look And Say "yeah, It's A Grand Am " .lol. The Look On His Face Was Priceless.

The Black GTO saturday night was Redglow 360 on here. I am the red one that was rolling with him. Both '04s. Most of the fastest Goats are LS1 04s. We have had more time to play with them!

No I have never went to the track. But like I said the supercharger I am looking at adds 300hp.It's a sick supercharger. The 800 was a rough estimate.Maybe I will get a 4.10 setup for the gears too. But when I do I figure that I will run great at the track with everything.

Yea....it's a intercooled supercharger it will give you about 140-150whp. Those are real #'s not a mfr. fabled #.
With those mods you should be in the 625-650whp range once tuned for them.
What headers are you going to be running on the car?

Read, read read. Hit the SE section and come meet us. We have an awesome local group, and some very quick cars. Most are not street racers, but we hit the track a lot as a swarm. TT Sat 9th will have a bunch at BMP.
You can learn what your gto can and can't do there on our site. Kenny up in NJ has the fastest full bodied (Cartek built engine) daily driver in the low 9s @ 140+.

BTW, only one cam in a GTO, and you won't put bigger than a 3.91 gear unless you go 9" or Moser 12 bolt.

there slow, my neon beat 2 different ones( a black 6.0 6spd, and a red one with some kind of racing stripes like the r/t neons have) by at least 2/3 car length from a dig. with your future mods id say it would be pretty quick. 400 hp is more than me but the car also weigh's quite a bit. the guy in the red gto was like yeah well its stock...im like yeah its a neon(i dont think he liked that too much).

There are some 800 hp new GTOs in the country, and a few over 1000 over in Australia, but I promise, out of the MANY issues the owners have had, spare cash is last on the list!

Cubic dollars can achieve anything. Helps to be rich to do anything with over 600 hp. To do it reliably costs mad money. In my dreams I have a rich Uncle Lingenfelter and Aunt Mallet......

mid 8s u would need to make atleast 1200hp on motor and around 950-1000rwhp

My buddies SRT8 Jeep beat a GTO with four people in the jeep from a roll :-o

Don't think your srt 4's are all that and more. I will admitt stage 2 and 3's are quick boogers.But the biggest problem with GTO owners is learning how to launch. If you learn how to launch properly and become good at it.... you can run 12.8 and 12.9's in the 1/4. I swear I am not lieing there was some dude that ran that in a stock 2005 or 2006 GTO. You may be able to find it on www.ls2gto.com (http://www.ls2gto.com) . It is possible so GTO's are not slow. BTW the Jeep SRT-8 is quick but if the GTO driver knew how to drive his car he should of won.

Of course any RWD torquy car on some 315 DRs is going to have a shot against FWD cars from a dig on the street, add a 100shot to that, and I wouldn't bee too supprised if I got waxed by a simple one like that from a dig on the street....

Your not too smart are you. Like I said before. The GTO is very hard to launch right. If you have a fast car and your a bad driver it is going to show. Another possibility is they missed a gear. Uh oh, time to put up or shut up....

Impulse GTO may be new to driving GTO, and learning the car, but he is right about the driver mod. Huge difference from driving an Fbod or Stang. We are limited by 245/17 stock tires, and no bigger than 275 possible due to whacked rim backspacing ard rear suspension design. The suspension will stick fantastic on rough corners, changeups in pavement under hard accel, where in my Fbod I had to lift or spin out.
Pure drag racing, the goat is a trickey beast to get rolling. Like all new hotrods it weighs a ton, or 2 actually!
The Srt4 and Silvia who were rolling behind me and Redglow saturday night when we started playing "ricey-rolls" to 100+ 3 or 4 times were rather surprised to see us go bye-bye...
I have beaten a pile of SRT4s.
I have lost to one. That is racing. He has a badass Neon, but I still have a Blaupunkt and a killer interior to fall back on.:)

Throw a $5K mod at any V8 and its going to move...

Run into a neon and get spanked is fine by me. I don't have to drive home in a neon. My stock car (bought in Feb) now has approx 71 runs down the track one trip cross country and back and is as comfortable as the day I drove it off the lot. It's not always about the money. I could put a blown 454 in a chevette and kick some tail but at the end of the day I'm still driving a chevette. Sounds like you've got a nice car good on you take pride in your ride no need to talk down about others. JMOP

Update on the "neon" I drive home in... 11.94@111mph without the bottle... I made a cannon ball run to Tenn in my car as well. Average speed 85mph with 5 stops for gas, pee ( me and dogs ), with a moving speed average between 105mph-115mph. Its still a neon....

I ran one of the GTO Thursday night ask him how the neon does, WITHOUT THE BOTTLE.

You are fast, but a hot compact is a whole different class of overall driving experience than a GTO. I don't think anybody is taking away from you achieving good power and speed with a Neon. Not to pick fights, but... Neither one of you guys have prob. seen a SRT4 at sebring raceway... Its not pretty... The ACR neon with JUST A short ram air intake, passed everything from lambos to vettes ( C6 included ).

I'll agree 500% the SRT is no Benz. Its not a lexus. Its not even a GTi, but beside all out top speed, the SRT4 is a better performing car as a whole. Interoir racing is reserved for the Acura RSX forum...

Next... Comes some type of resale value comparrison :lol:

I'll agree 500% the SRT is no Benz. Its not a lexus. Its not even a GTi, but beside all out top speed,Ole yea, and I saw the props. I try not to get too abbrasive, but... Calling names like "neon" isn't very nice :lol:

Never said my car was a Benz but I didn't buy my car because I wanted as you put it "the most reliable, easiest, cheapest way to run 11's" If that was my goal I would have bought something else. I bought exactly what I wanted. A grand touring machine thats unequalled in the bang for the buck catagory not the very best at anything but damn good at everything.

While it's a fat bitch that weight helps provide a great deal of stability on the open road and at high speeds. Rolling 90 mph at 1700 RPMs is truly cruising. I can make anything go fast. Been there done that I chose this platform. If I offended you I apologize just trying to prove a point. We're all big boys nothing wrong with a little smack talkin but we should keep things civil. GTO's are not slow guys .....If anyone of those GTO owners lent me their car for an afternoon i could drop them down to 2800 pounds (wager anyone?) . Now lets think 425rwhp with some bolt-ons and 2800 pounds sounds like a low 11 sec car to me maybe better if traction and gearing is right . Instead they choose to have all of the luxuries in there cars still be very quick and have all the fun they want in a reliable daily driver. Just sick of people dissing cars for no reason you beat a GTO and then they are slow?! Get over it, someone will always have a better power to weight than you and smoke your @ss its a scientific fact you know.

You just started talking about the SRT4 like its an 87' civic. Its actully fairly nice for the price range and power/potental it comes with.

I never said the GTOs were "SLOW", like you meantioned, you can make anything fast... I just don't have that kind of money. I'd be in a cobra or used E55, if I made about $30K more a year than I do right now :lol:

hey sour, saw your 11.9x run at bmp, I think thats the first skittle ive ever seen to actually have traction from a dig. I guess those slicks ended up working pretty good.

Yes sir, they definately helpped. 1.685 60ft isn't too bad in a 3000LBS. FWD car with a stock clutch... The slicks were used, but I ant bitch'n :lol:

I had a set of 22'' tall slicks, but my car was over powering them gear wise. So these 24.5'' slicks will be pefect when I get a clutch and can use the bottle again... Here's the scary part... I was running about 5 psi less than I normally do ( faulty wastegate, replacement in route ).

I think its got 11.6-11.7 in it in the cooler months without the bottle and with a clutch.

With the bottle ? prob. 11.3-11.5 :-o

It would blow peoples minds if they knew just how stock this car is... ( its not stock, but its uses almost all stock parts ).

Jazz/57-trims best time was 11.9 in Jan. I ran 11.9 in Sept. I haven't seen ICS run an 11 yet with the new car. Giant turbos are great for roll racing on the street though....
