pulled the ka
welp. yesterday after work i decided to get right to it and pull out the weak and old ka out of my '95 se. I got home @ about a quarter to 6 and started on the car at about 6:30 and had the motor pulled out and a half of a bottle of captain down by about 9:15. The pull went rather well concidering it was my first time pullin out a motor on an import. I took the motor and tranny out at the same time hoping it is going to be easier to get it in and out. I have another ka lined up to be picked up today after work today and i am hoping to at least get most of the install done tonight and finish up tomarrow weather permitting.
Any tips on getting this motor in easier or any tricks? it seems pretty straight forward but i may just be missing something
Thanks
-Don

its pretty straightforward, disconnect wiring harness, heater hoses, a/c compressor (so u can keep the charge in it), ps pump if u want, or just disconnect the lines and fill it later) rad hoses, driveshaft, mounts, this and that.
only tip i know of is keep everything organized and take the shifter out (which im sure u did). getting it in will be easy, lining it up will be alright...a 2nd person helping hold the tail of the transmission always helps it stay stable.
did u take the motor mounts off the engine or off the crossmember? i like to take them off the crossmember, since the holes for that are slotted and allow you to have some play in it rather than trying to get it to sit just right. (load leveler on the hoist is a must with these boat anchors too)

i just hope i can remember where all the vacume lines and wire connections go when im putting it back together
maybe finishing the other half of the bottle tonight might not be a good idea

i always use painters tape over wiring harness crap. its bright blue and this way i dont forget to put a ground back on or something stupid like that. go buy some rustoleum and spray your engine bay. that shit roocks cuz it doesnt rust, and goes on pretty clean with a light sand.

Ya just basically treat it like any other engine install. Mark your vacume hoses/ heater hoses, the harness is pretty straight forward you cant realy fuck up,jack up the front and slide it in tranny first, use an engine jack to guide it, and pretty much good to go.
gl with the install let us know how it turns out. And i say finish that captain!

if you really want to clean up the engine bay remove your egr from the intake and exhaust manifold too... takes about an hour and removes a whole lot of clutter. Here's how
