$3K....nice project. Make a neat auto-x car with some tweaking.

Not that it matters...but Actually looking at it more closley its not a Charger, but a Plymouth Turismo.
Here is my old '85 Turismo:

I used to drive an '81.

The 2.2 is a strong engine. I think the later years, they worked out the driveline problems with a better transmission... maybe equal length driveshafts? It's been a long time, I've forgotten the details.
Mine was an automatic. The autos in those cars are WEAK. I went through 3 of them.
One thing is certain, I would never, ever, ever consider paying anywhere near $3000 for one!
I know I'm a Miata snob (sorry, it's what I know)... but it's a good frame of reference. You can find a decent 90-93 Miata for under $3000. It's 5 years newer than this, It's NOT front wheel drive, it's NOT a Chrysler product from the 80's, and it IS a real sports car that can be autocrossed or raced right out of the box if you want to, and it DOES have a huge aftermarket.
(one could easily write the paragraph above substituting 90's vintage Honda Civic... except for the rear wheel drive and sports car part... an '85 Chrysler product is just not a great choice for racing... unless it's CHEAP, or unless you're talking about drag racing and you want to go with a great junkyard turbo setup)
In other words... I'm calling you crazy!

So I'm guessing Loren doesn't want to buy the Shelby Charger I have in my back yard. I also have a Daytona IROC R/T (226 hp) sitting next to it.
CALL ME CRAZY, but I'd love to put a IROC R/T drive train in a GLH Omni.
(2150 lbs / 226hp = fun)
I drove a stock one for years, and I loved it.
(When I bought a new car, people asked me if they could buy the Omni. I never advertised it.)

The Shelby package cars are certainly worth having. (but, no, I don't want one :) )
