Almost done, I hate mosquitoes too much to work at night so ill have to fo the finishing touches (run the wires underneath, fix carpet imperfections) later.
The all diamond system sounds awesome - the 3400.1 and 3400.4 amps are both gained almost to minimum and hit thundering clean. I dont think Ive seen an amp <$250 that had such a strong dampening factor either.
John is also going to invest in a viper 2way alarm with nifty remote start to keep the junkies at bay... or at least give him some target practice.

less than 10lbs without the sub... And hes already decided he needs more power (althought I'm sure what he needs is a bigger box!)
John as in John? Mr self dectruct? I like it, except the amp rack area.

yeah I need to drill holes and hide the wires, the rain seriously messed up my schedule - it was stop n go the whole time.
What about creating a trim panel to mount both amps on? I mean it just looks like it didnt get thought out to have the amps on 2 surfaces like that.
we're going to redo the amps location, as well as stepping up to the D6 sub. We figured out we had half the box that we needed for the D3, but the D6 fits the box perfectly.

two surfaces? The second amp is on a totally different piece of wood at a 30 degree angle. They wont fit side by side and they wont both fit on the back panel its 2 inches short. Trust me I wasted an hour sitting in hte trunk just lookin at it tryin to figure out how to make it fit.

How about floating one amp in front of the other? Also, I think some sort of false floor/grill would be a good idea.

Good idea, I'm going to take the suggestion and mount the monoblock over the 4channel some time within the next few days. As for the grill, AVE didnt have one that fit so im still looking for one.
I was thinking possibly of putting a carpeted panel raised 2.5" over the sub with a little neon light to glow around from underneath but John brushed the rice out of my hair and I kept looking for a grill.

In tampa, its all about that free roadside assistance on your insurance. Plus I charge less to fiberglass the wheel well than I do to build an MDF enclosure :-o

Yeah, two entirles different planes. If youre going to all the trouble to glass it in, why dont you just take and build a quick framework, one flat piece that would fit the two amps side by side and make it meet "fluch" with the floor?
LIke a big arch that fills in all the rough edges in the back of the trunk? One chunk of fleece and some glass, and carpet?

How many layers of fiberglass did you use? Please don't tell me it's just that one layer of fleece or whatever you used in that one picture....

Take a sheet of MDF the same size and shape of the baffle, cut a hole in it bigger than the sub, cover the hole with expanded metal (mesh...lowe's has it) and then carpet. think false floor... May need a couple spacers, depending on excursion of the sub.
Toby
it aint done yet, we just ran out of time :) Notice the "almost done" part :)

Its looking good John. I see the EVO is getting all the love now that the 240 is gone.
once i get the audio portion where I'm happy with it, which isnt going to take very much more, then I will go back to what I know best - hp :-D
the new amp rack is in, and while I havent taken pictures yet, it looks way cleaner IMO.

Lookin forward to seeing those pics :D ... then again maybe you shoudl wait till I can use black zip ties.
well an update:
After trying every which way we could to get the wheel well enclosure to sound like what I was looking for, we tried a D6 Diamond 12 in a small ported enclosure, and put about 800 watts to it. It sounded so much better it wasn't even close! The Diamonds simply need more space than we could give it in the wheel well, and even though I was never a big fan of ported enclosures, it does this sub a lot of justice. With the gains turned down, its tight, punchy, and quite musical. Switch it over to hip hop, turn the gain up to 7 or so, and it is as loud as I would want.
I'm super impressed with the sound now. I just am waiting on putting in the new head unit and I'll be done with it.
Thanks a lot to Dalton for all his help and patience. I never knew I'd be so picky :)

Here is my rendition of Toby's suggestion about stacking the amp
I had some issues getting the output I was hoping for from the sub, but I think ive narrowed it down to the voltage output from the line outs from the deck and the lack of sensitivity of the amplifiers. Basicly I had to turn the gain up a lot.

I really like how the cap and amp look mounted up there, he should get another real cheap for the other side just for aesthetics, even if it doesnt hold a charge .
I dont want to sound like an ass but maybe theres a switch on the side of the amp you both overlooked that has the sensitivity way too low? i know i have one on my stupid monoblock and it looks exactly like two other switches and if i ever accidentally switch it, i have the hardest time finding out that thats the source.
anyways, just throwing out ideas.
Dalton we gotta turn off that bass boost, yeah its louder (and still clean) but the system is completely unbalanced now, and too boomy for my tastes.
