alright everyone, ive been on the boards for about a year now, i pop in and out pretty frequently just reading up on the local shit, and what people are doing to their cars. i finally have enough money to start a project, figures i now live in new hampshire. ive been thinking about cars to start with and i know these threads are hated, but ive found so many nice fox body mustangs for real cheap. does anyone think this would be a fun first project for a drift car? i still have the 240sx, miata, and rx7 in the back of my mind, but up here the mustang is the most plentiful and easiest to obtain parts. ive never seen a foxbody drift so i just wanted to see if you guys think it would be a good choice.

tell me what you think. thanks a bunch guys.

i'm not a fan of the mustang.

2nd gen rx7 or 240sx is a great choice...

my 2 cents

thanks man, i really am just looking for opinions. all the sport import cars are pretty expensive up here compared to florida so im just trying to find the best route, if the more expensive way really is the better way, then ill take it.

do a foxbody parts are everywhere, maintenance parts are fuckin cheap, and the platform has been around forever so you can buy all sorts of cool ass suspension parts. go buy a mustangs and fast fords magazine and look in there.

the fox platform does have a huge aftermarket

parts are easy to find

but but but but

it will never be as easy to drift as a 240. the steering on the mustang just doesnt feel right, no matter how many different ones i drive. that is 1st hand experience. but if you want to do it do it.

you work at cfp, just shorten the steering arm on the spindle and weld it back on there, and whala, more steering angle.

Anything that is RWD or AWD has my approval for drifting.

much to JC's dismay, im really thinking this is the route i will be going. ive seen a total of two 240's since i moved up here a month ago. i cant even begin to count how many mustangs ive seen.

although a mustang guy told me that the definition of drifting isnt what we think it is, that drifting is really when you lose complete control and you have all 4 wheels in a slide. i thought it was funny. guess none of you guys are really drifting. go fix your methods.

Yeah.
When i was in washington, i saw only one 240 throughout my 1 week vacation there. and yeah, drifting is popular there.

Pull the rack limiter if you want to get more angle. For some reason, the orginal rack in my car was great, could never find one as good though afterwords

That's why i said, its popular there. Maybe they drift only in fox boxes :dunno:
Not sure why I only saw one 240, which was at some dealership.
Everything was FWD hondas, trucks, SUV or Subbies.

TII rx7, easiest car and engine in the world to work on. Handles Twices as good as a 240 straight out of the box. You can build yourself a pretty nice n/a-TII conversion for $3500 depending what FC chassis you would start with/ how good of condition it would be in. I would opt for a 90 Mazda 929, S5 13bt, Luce Crossmember, 5spd, FC shocks/struts, vert wheels :bigthumb:

4 door drift car from hell, and you can fit 4-5 sluts in the car ofcourse, sluts=nice

i dont know man, tons of people have told me about all the drifters up here, and ive found so many good spots its ridiculous, but i have only seen a few 240's. ive spotted just as many fd rx7's.

the autotrader and backroad car search has begun, im still keeping my options open to almost anything if i find a good deal. but a mustang would be choice right now.
