View Full Version : Well folks...its been way overdue...ROLLING THUNDER!

Alright ladies and gentleman,

For those of you who experienced the previous two, you know its been one of the biggest, loudest, fastest, most intense fits of driving you have been a part of (road course guys..stfu ;) )

for those of you who havent experienced this, you are greatly urged to come along and see what its all about. its a chance to meet new faces, old faces, and a group of people into what you are into.

Pics from RT3 : http://www.tamparacing.com/photopost/showgallery.php/cat/3231

Videos :

RT1 - ...YES...I MODIFIED IT! Video - rollingthunder1 (http://videos.mobmototb.com/video/daaf882a-2e3c-4f35-8dc0-981f014754f1.htm)

RT2 - Video - its a video (http://videos.mobmototb.com/video/00ca46fb-63c8-44ad-b083-981f014204b0.htm) (to get an idea of how many cars, jump to the last few minutes...think 50-60 left the 7/11 with us)

Time/Date: to give everyone ample notice, as to get cars running, repaired, and in good shape, this will take place the weekend of October 7th @ 9pm

Where: Quaker Steak and Lube (this will be the meetup spot, with the large groups we've had, its been hard to make it to the interstate together.)

The Route: the route will be pre planned, but not posted publicly. we will have a sit down before we roll out, and some maps of the route handed out. YOU WILL NEED A FULL TANK OF GAS! itll be 50 some odd miles before we hit a gas station....so like a 15 minute drive abouts? ;)

PS: if anyone has the vid that Havoc posted up from RT3 by all means, shoot it up.

Sneakin Deacon
08-18-2006, 11:37 AM
everyone is quite welcome, i just ask everyone conduct themselves in a good manner. no import/domestic bashing, no fighting, no arguing (to an extent), and to keep it civil....this is an enthusiasts cruise, so everyone is welcome.

Teamcalloway03

Come to think if its only a 50 mile cruise I can proablly swing it..As long as my piles running I'll be there.

This event is the shit folks! It's a really great cruise + a great chance to meet new people. It'll definately test that driving ability you're all so proud of. lol!

Seriously though, it's a great event! Let's make this one the biggest yet!

Sneakin Deacon
08-18-2006, 06:09 PM
alright...i think a few people are mixing this up...this is roughly a 120 mile run...its 50 miles till the next chance to fill back up.

well the last ones have been local, leave tampa, hit 7-11, regroup, run to courtney cambell, regroup, run to gandy, regroup....and a lot of lights, and miscommunication in between.

120 miles isn't that bad...

Depends, if it's anything like what I'm thinking it's going to be, you're going to have a group of 6/5 speed and relatively stock auto cars gone down the road and then a group of big stall/big gear cars way way way way (did I say way? I mean way) behind. Probably pass them up on the return trip going the other way  Maybe Kenny Dirt will PM me and give me an idea what's brewing and it will make more sense, but I kinda think I know what the plan is. Probably bring the Buick, but I know Janien's car is out.

Sneakin Deacon
08-26-2006, 10:16 AM
your right about the big stall big gear cars....im planning on doing 70mph most the trip...might even try to find a 6spd before hand and toss it in lol.

Sneakin Deacon
10-05-2006, 02:43 PM
9:00 we leave.. if for some reason there is not enough parking at QSL we will shimmy over to the other lot (when entering QSL from the light, instead of going right into QSL, go left and there is a big lot right there.)

I was thinking that we should meet in the lot across form QS&L. If we all try to turn north from the light the group will be split into at least 2 or 3 smaller groups, unless half the people are gonna run a redlight. If everyone left from the empty lot one car could kinda block the road and let everyone out at once, then it is just right turns to the interstate.

its fine, thats why i didnt post the route up any earlier than just a couple days ago. you'll have to be careful if anyone is going to extracuricular activities...im there for the cruise and thats it. and just a heads up, incase anyone hadnt heard, the spectating provision is not in the books anymore, it was replaced by the passenger provision, which means the passenger can now be charged with street racing aswell. this is what i was told by someone i consider to be a very reliable source.

Hey everyone, I'm haven't been much of a regular on this forum, but that's going to change after last night's event. It felt odd to be the only 350z in a crowd of mostly F-Bodies, but everyone was real cool, no bashing whatsoever. I look forward to doing it again.

Other then a few near multi car pile-ups trying to pull into exits and rest stations  , the night was really smooth.

I tip my hat to whoever put this together.

Yep pulled over twice, actually. First time was trying to fix a boost problem, as everyone saw I was doing the whole night. I think I finally got it today, we'll see.

Yeah, it did feel weird being one of very few imports, but it was nice to be in a mature, welcoming crowd. Last night was also the first night I've been to the notorious Gandy Bridge, where I met the opposite crowd. As soon as I stepped out of my car a group of people crowded around me and had already set up a race for me. WTF...

It's just a hot running engine by nature. Oil temps were getting a little high, but nothing "wrong" considering the length of the trip and the highway speeds we were running (all within legal limits of course). Coolant temps were good the whole time.
