I'm planning to go. They're usually open to other makes unless they say so on the PCA schedule (http://www.pca.org/sfl/calendar%20of%20events.htm), I believe.

Yeah it's usually open. I found out today that I have to replace my right rear wheel bearing, so if I get that done by then I will probably go.

Yea after I install a new one I usually have to replace it due to the low offset race wheels. Oh well thats the price ya have to pay to play.

White Ghost. Have you switched to the Legacy Roller Bearings? The Gc8 Ball bearings are Not Scottish, however the Legacy bearings are bulletproof, and press right in the carrier. bearing side loads are handled with no fuss.

they always accept other cars, but this may be a bmw vs porsche club event... I know they did one last month at Brooksville airport only allowing the 2 makes (and i think MINI since theyre owned by bmw). I may call and check on it though because the pca events are normally good... Itd be my first without the suby tho :(

yeah, that's definately what's causing your problems plus you run spacers for the street wheels so those 245's fit right? the legacy bearings are far superior to the impreza one's. which bearings are going on you, the front or rear?

WhiteGhost2.5
08-08-2006, 11:54 PM
sounds like the rear because of the spacers back there? But I actually think I can run the stockers without the spacers. I will find out soo when I take the spacers off.

The 27th event is Open to ALL..

We have not set a date yet for the BMW / Porsche event..

I am guessing it will be the Sept event.. but I am not sure.. Still working on the details.

I'm not crazzy bout mastro. they couldn't order my whiteline swaybar even after I gave them the part number. not exactly the performance marketplace they proport themselves to be.

however as of 2003 (which is when I sold my intrest in a subaru shop)

"Subaru has also authorized the
installation of a taper roller-type
bearing, part number
28016AA030, as the replacement
part on the applicable Impreza
and Forester models. This taper
bearing is the same bearing that
is applicable to 1999 model year
and prior Legacy models."

yeah ive been to i think 4 pca autoXs and either the porsche guys are extremely slow (oh no! dont want to hurt my baby! In the nothingness to hit on an empty runway!) or very fast. Danny Shields runs a boxster S and hes a national autoX champion and basically smokes everyone.

Actually if you havent been before, just a little caution. AVOID the small pilot lights on the runway. It's either $150 or $250 each if you break one.

either way, the porsche owners who come out to autox have my repsect cause i've seen way more on the street that will never come remotely close to being used for what they're intended to. they're made to be driven & not the kinda driving to & from work or to the grocery store but driven:( anyone who has the balls to take their $50,000+ car out & beat on it is cool in my book

THe next BMW & Porshce only event will be the Nov, Zeph hills event.. Since the BMWs everaged a 3 second faster time average then the P cars. SO were not sure how we will be scoring this event.

Also Both a P can and BMW went over the little hill on the side. the M3 put its front spoiler in the water that was it.. THe P car was lucky because it was dry and there was no water . No one or cars were hurt , so thats all that counts.. thats what happens when Racing slicks get on wet grass.. you are just along for the ride.

Not only that, some of these guys run older, "classic" cars. That takes guts because if you break it, it isn't exactly cheap to fix!

And as for the lights, my first time there, one guy spun around one of the lights, came to a stop, then drove forward and ran it over. They fixed it and reinstalled, no harm no foul.

I couldn't care less about how much their cars cost or how old they are. I thought it was common knowledge that driving on I-275 is more dangerous than autocrossing. :dunno: Doesn't make Porsche owners any more cool to me than anyone else.

I just don't see a point to specific-make autocrosses in Tampa. Please don't have them often, and if you do please keep it at Z-hills only. :)

We only do a Porsche and BMW event once a year at each clubs site. One at Zeph hills and one at Brooksville. Our clubs have been doing events together for over 10 years so its some thing that goes way back. That gives another 10 events that are open to every one at each site. Plus the vette club, NASA X and SCCA have open events every month at brooksville. So there are plenty of events out there to run.

They allways make the most power JUST before they pop.. Sorry to see it happen brother.. but as they say, live by the sword... I personally am deeply disgusted I only got 2nd in class and 3rd overall.. I guess UPS with the custom Forged wheels and Hankooks missing my friday deadline was a blessing. however bet your ass I will not let that happen again. If I can't get FTD at a local porsche event then I have NO buisness going to Nationals. Hopefully the manufacturer hustled to send me my wheels. to be honest Even if I installed my national (see concrete) valved koni's and had the tires ready. I would not be ready to RE-Learn the car in that short amount of time. It's begining to look a lot like 07

I really liked the course. My last clean run was like a 46.74. Not up there with the 44.XX sec runs, but I was happy with it. I wish the results for the PCA events were listed somehow afterwards so I could see how I did over all. (Too bad Rosko was not there to take a photo of the results.)
