Once again, our monthly Official AHQ Car Audio Meet is set to be held. Mark your calendars, the event will kick off on Saturday, August 12th at 6:30PM and last until everyone leaves (quite a concept, eh?). Anyone and everyone with an interest in car audio is invited, regardless of if you currently own a system (or even a car). The meet will again be hosted by T&J Elite Customs of Oldsmar, thanks to Toby (screenname TJElite). Toby is also kind enough to offer FREE DB METERING on a TermPro meter to all TR members. Don't be afraid to come down and actually bump your system as much as you want, no one is going to kick you out or confront you here, like most car shows/meets. It will be a great chance for everyone to come down and find out what you're hitting, check out some cars, and make a few friends. Check out Toby's shop, and I'm sure he'll cut you a great deal on all your car audio needs. Car clubs are welcome as well. Past meets have been successful and we expect this one to be the best yet, so don't miss it.

As usual, cliff notes:

When: Saturday, August 12th @ 6:30pm

Seriously, I'll keep picking up the pizza and soda, unless you guys want to do something different. Or, you guys can bring stuff to go with the pizza.

Once it cools off a little, I think we'll fire up the grill, and do burgers and dogs, etc.

So save up for some ketchup...

Real good turn-out. I think there was close to 20 cars out there. Good meeting some of you newer guys. With continued growth, we can hopefully eventually evolve this into a meet/show/audio competition. Thanks again to T&J Elite Customs for giving everyone a place to hang, not to mention the food and free metering. See yall next month!

Looking at the calendar, the next one is scheduled for Sept. 9. That's the Saturday after Labor Day, so it doesn't get in to the long weekend.

Next time, I'll try to 'organize' the metering a bit better...if nothing else, get the big guns to take a break while we meter cars :-) I'll also work on the bass race format, and see if we can get that going.

Dan brings up a good point about socializing...its always going to be tough, with that many people, showing up at different times, but it would be nice to but faces with cars and TR names. I hate to resort to goofy nametags, but we should do something. How about more of a 'car show' format...everyone gets a sheet to fill in with their name, screen name, and list of mods, that they can put on their car. Ideally, they'd leave the car open, so people walking by can see what's in there. This way, at least we'll know you are there, somewhere, and can track you down if we want.

Again, it won't matter what you bring, what you have, what you meter, or how much Dalton thinks you overpaid...its all for fun.

Toby

I was thinking the same idea. As the crowd continues to grow, we need get a little more organized. I can make up a bunch identification sheets to be placed in every car's windshield. We can set up a table with someone to make sure everyone gets signed in. Keep the cars compact and together...and atleast all trunks opened so everyone can check 'em out. Toby, PM me with any other specific ideas you might have...maybe we can get the metering routine a little more organized too.

P057
08-13-2006, 06:08 PM
Toby and John, yeah that sounds like a great idea.

The only thing that worries me about that is that it gets pretty dark outside toby's shop towards the back "parking areas" which brings up the fact on security.

What sort of security, besides the basis of trust, do we have to make sure that everyone can be at ease enough to leave their cars open to the 'general public'?

And you're the one who asked for night time shows  just kidding. Well, its not like you open your trunk, and go down the block. Part of the point would be to have all the cars together in one area, so all of us are together, in the same area. I also don't think we have a 'general public' at these shows, and in case you didn't notice, my whole back area is fenced, so it would be hard for someone to sneak up on us, or for someone to sneak out with your gear, after they stealthily uninstalled it from your car. Getting some sort of registration / sign in will also help, as that way people will know that someone saw them come in.

And, I'm actually going to be putting some more lights out there before the next meet, but I don't see security at the shows as a big problem. Heck, I leave my garage open to all of you questionable characters...

yeah i was mainly referencing to your lighting :P. It was rather dark out last night BUT was really cool when we saw those systems light up. Wasnt too bad at all, not at all.

To avoid higher electrical bills, i'm sure that somehow dalton can wire up a 3-stage lighting system out of 4 potatoes, a gallon of water, and a voltage regulator all bought at walmart.

funny you should mention that, a customer said the exact same thing to me when I used the stock wires to bypass an infinity amp by crimping the source and speaker leads together.

I dont think anyone took pics of the average cars, once the vans came it just got very loud and very hectic.
