View Full Version : .75 complettor
PArt 2 i guess of the install job, i'm going to only post before and afters since i have to get home in like 2 minutes, i'll comment later. I think Dalton will post the other pics.
Lemme know what u think!?
i think it looks WAY better than the 'stock' and looks pretty damn cool even if you didnt see the before pic.
Matches with the subwoofers.
BTW these sound absolutely fantastic, good components, worth a look.

All & all I'm satisfied with how it turned out. Would have been a little easier if it wasn’t raining. The only thing I would have preferred to have done was flush the tweeters but since we aren't totally sure if the black carpet will stay or if we are going to sand/paint it, I didnt flush them yet. Any opinions on that?
I was impressed with the amount of bass the Polk DB components produced in the sealed baffles. Even with the crossover at the lowest freq (40hz) they still had no clipping or punchyness at full volume. The highs were crisp but not overwhelming which was my number one complaint with his three way Infinity 6x9s. The baffles were stuffed with polyfil which I think improved the quality as well.
I now rate sealed baffles in my top 10 ways to get better quality sound (particularly clean midbass) in car.

parallel angle ft.....w i guess
I dunno, now that we figured out we can flip the faceplate since it doesnt hinder it anymore, maybe we can put it V-angle.
what do you guys think?
set the crossover boxes in...-
parallel to each other (like how it is now)
or in a v-shape?
I'm really tying to figure out a complettor? is that a capacitor?
Nice work Dalton, but what is up with that headrest, it looks like its flapping int he breeze?

His ghetto seat covers - not addressed until Pimp Dans Ride Step 2.
I still have to go back and hide the power/signal wires inside the car

Great stuff. Soon, you'll see Dan's car for sale...
$2500 with system, $1.25 without :-)
Seriously, looks good. It goes to show you that it doesn't take big $$ to have a good looking system.
As for paint vs. carpet...tough call. My first thought is to keep it carpet, since paint is soooo much more work, and it would kind of be out of place, since nothing else in the car is painted. You've got a good 'stockish' but better appearance thing going, and that's cool. I really like an install that is custom, but looks stock to the average person.
That being said, if you paint the deck, and the sub box the same color, that would be cool, and it might put just enough pressure on you to build some color matched kicks down the road.

Looks ok, but that setup is just screaming to be stolen. And even if they don't steal the actual components, looking through the rear window would make a theif (or anyone for that matter) think there has just gotta be a bunch more valuable stuff inside. Hope you got or are getting some limo tint on there. Personally, I would have atleast hidden the x-overs and flushed the tweeters right next to the mids or into the side pillar panels. On a side note, that sure must pound the hell out of any back seat passengers.

hehehe John has stumbled upon my secret plan - Cheap labor for the easy shit then I'm gonna rape him on the alarm install MUAHAHAHHAHAHAHHHAA
The bass is great and the tweeters will probably be flushed into the deck later on(they were too loud high on the pillars). The crossovers look really cool, why would I hide them? A nice 2way alarm will be enough protection against theft.
^^ Toby
You're right about the carpet, and the kickpanels. Now that I'm thinking about kicks, we might just scrap the door speakers and run straight kicks maybe with tweeters... of course I have to wait for dans wallet to recover. He spent $180 on the speakers and $60 on materials this week and $50 on materials last week for the trunk. Now he needs a new set of components for the front and we'll call it a day with all Polk Speakers :D :D

haha. my wallet is about 1/2 smaller than it was before =X
BTW he isnt including some of the stuff i spent money on and i had installed, and one other thing i still have sitting in my room.
4 speakers and a 2ch amp gonna gather dust now.
btw car alarm install is in process. I park only in secure places ATM, so i consider myself lucky, but yeah next time i know get the alarm installed first. Its just so appealing to be sleeper, unfortunately my bling is starting to come out the rust...
Many props to Dalton for his excellent work, i wont forget that.

thats me being retarded and high off my ass off that resin mix, it smells REALLY strong  only big downside. im always ending up coughing a bit after getting out my car.
and btw, it was tied down really well until dalton ripped it... ;) j/k
The seat was down tight (like the first photo shows) and i think even tighter, its just that when i've been removing and putting back on that seat so much, the cheap little straps rip off easily. its a really easy fix, something i'll get to this weekend after i rest from getting only 3 hours of sleep for 3 nights =[
it was a cheap ebay seatcover set (20 bucks for all the seats) and are definately worth it, i dont care what anyone says, they havent seen the actual seats so they dont know how it is... =X
