trying to decide between 2 infinity amps (a "97x2 RMS" 2 channel and a 600ish @ 2ohm mono) and 2 rockford punch amps (80x2 and 600x1) for my front stage and sub. the infinity amps i can get a bit cheaper, but after having seen inside the rockfords, i'm a little torn. plus the fact that the infinitys are rated at 1% THD  makes me kinda wary. i don't know if i'll be able to get over seeing the word "punch" in my trunk though. i guess i could just hide them somewhere. i'll be using them to run a set of elemental design edi6500s components and one 13kv.2 @ 4 ohms, then upgrading to a 13ov.2 or a second kv.2 if need be later down the road
anyone got any opinions here?

nope.
lol actuall i'm biased towards infinity, i have only infinity speakers and i love em. not a disappointment in anythign at all besides low bass for their smaller speakers. but then again thats exactly what i want so thats why i got them.
I know you're talking about amps too.
I've heard a few infinity amps and a few rockford, it may have been the way they were wired but the rockfords i've heard sound actually a little better. again, might have just been wiring.
Paint over the rockford =D. lol, right where it says punch.
Or just place a sticker on it or something.

Don't let the 1% thd bother you. First, anything below about 5% is considered inaudible, and 2nd, that's probably the CEA2006 rating, which is not as bad as it sounds. Before CEA2006, and for non 2006 compliant products, THD was not always given at full power...i.e., amp manufacturers could quote .05% THD, and max power of 500 watts, even though the THD spec was maybe only from 50 watts, and at 500 watts, it might have had 20% THD. CEA2006 works it a little backward. What the standard says is that the manufacturer can only claim as much power as their amp can make at 14.4v, with no more than 1% THD. Some really clean amps may now be able to claim more power than before (especially with the 14.4v allowance) but more importantly, the crap brands won't be able to make huge claims anymore.
So, all CEA2006 amps will have a max power rating at 1% THD. That doesn't mean that they don't produce much less THD at lower power levels. And again, 1% is not really a problem.
As for Rockford vs. infinity...I'd say they are about equal. Both are average or above, and I doubt you'd be able to hear the difference. I'd make the decision based on price and / or warranty.

Tobylet's put it this way, between the rockford and infinity amps, going with infinity i'd pretty much get the component set free.
