just trying to thro out the option for a future meet of maybe running it as bass race vs the more tradional db drag style we have been running.lmk

Is Bass Race the one where you run in a 'class'? Like, if you're in the 130db class, you try to get as close to 130, without going over? I read something about that...it sounded interesting.

Since we don't have many 'competitors', we could do it more like a dial in. Say you dial in at 125. You try to get as close to 125, without going over...and you can't see the meter while you're doing it :-)

Something like that could make it so anyone could win, regardless of how big your system is. I've even got some trophies that we could give out.

I also have no objection to just straight metering (no competition), so, its up to you guys. In fact, we can probably do both.

Actually sounds pretty cool. The fact that it wont be so 'power-system' dependent might draw out a few extra people out of the shadows to show up and test out their current gear (also if theyre upgrading and are just trying individual components out as they go along?) anyways... overall sounds cool.

Scrapin and I are putting together a couple ideas for the next meet. I think it will end up being a contest where absolutely anyone has a chance to win...even a stock stereo could pull it out. Just like drag racing, this contest will involve reaction time and control, as well as power.

It will be free, at least for now, and I even have some trophies I could give out. You'll also win bragging rights, which is just what this forum needs...:-o

So, who would be interested in something like this? We'll come up with rules, etc., and post them soon.

That sounds really intresting. I have not heard any thing about it but would be tight for any one from 1 10 to 12 15's.... Sounds nice.... wasnt there a meet recently i totaly forgot about it ?

Sounds interesting, what are the specifics?

Don't have all the specifics yet, but we're going to work off the basics of DB Drag's Bass Race.

Basically, it will work on average SPL, over a 30 second period. You'll have a dial in, or max db, and then you'll have 30 seconds to get your average db as close to the max as possible, without going over at any point. And you must use music.

So, let's say you dial in 120. When we say go, you turn the volume up for 30 seconds. How fast you turn it up matters, since we're looking at average spl over 30 seconds, as does how loud you go, where you start the song, etc. If at any time, you go over your dial in, you lose. If you start early, you lose. Whoever gets closest to their dial in, be it 110 or 150, wins.

Each competitor will get a couple of qualifying runs, to see where they should dial in, etc. Probably for the first couple of these, we'll have extra qualifying runs, and maybe allow some overshoot of the dial in, or something, till we get the hang of it. Again, the rest of the rules to follow, but we're going to take most of it from DB Drag. Their rules are here:

http://www.termpro.com/dbdrag/rules/index.asp?Page=3

I think we should use dial ins, instead of classes, at least until we get more competitors. Also, we may not have enough for the elimination style event.

I'm up for ideas...

They're at T&J Elite Customs in Oldsmar (off Tampa Rd.) every second Saturday of the month. Like P057 said, there's always a thread up reminding everyone a week or two in advance.

omfg, he spelled my name right, woot!

If you need directions, you can always yahoo.maps it but for reg directions, from US19, you're going to want to hit tampa road and head ....south? or east i think and go down it until you get to forest lakes i believe, right after the dairy queen on the right, make a right turn on that street.

http://www.tamparacing.com/forums/audio-hq/323079-ok-so-how-do-i-take-care-2.html

Around Mid-page when u see the map

Coming from my way (main tampa, hillsborough) you can either take dale mabry till it hits hillsborough avenue and take that allllllll the way up till it turns into tampa road, when you spot the 7-11 on the right, make a left turn on that street, its an easy street to pass but not a problem, if you notice the big store they just built... damn i forgot the name.. i think famous tate's? you went too far, make an easy U-turn and take a right at the dairy queen like mentioned above, his shop is on the left, not hard to miss as you're passing it.

annnnnd if you're still confused and live in the tampa hillsborough area we could definately meet up somewhere and drive down there blasting our shit being annoying as hell; afterall, our sound systems are only made for setting car alarms off anyways.:roll:

Dan, If I were ever on one of those treasure/scavenger hunt shows, where directions are critical, I'd for sure want you...to be on the other team :D

Thanks for trying, though...

Jeez Dan, its so simpla man. You take tampa rd, I think, or maybe its called licoln to the end where theres a little bridge - or maybe its a fallen tree? anyways, then turn left, make a uturn at the first homeless guy you see, honk your horn twice and the angels will come and carry your car to the bonus level where you will keep an eye out for nebraska street, wait I mean charlotte road. Then turn on that street but only go three miles because if you go 3.1 miles you will drive off a cliff.

mapquest sucks

yahoomaps > google map thingy > anything else > mapquest

shit site always gives me the most fucked up directions.

its like yahoo maps is - to get to toby's place, take ehrlich east until turner, go left, get on waters, go up until road ends, make left on country, then right on hillsborough/tampa road, arrive at toby's

mapquest is like take ehrlich to dale mabry, go onto i275, go to st pete, take exit 140, go up through ft myers, take a billion back roads, head back up I4 and get on hillsborough, go make a left onto us19 until it turns into some weird road and then end up in toby's backyard (ps most of the roads named dont exist anymore or are renamed)

i hate that site
