I just wanted to say thanks to Brian, I believe, for designing yesterdays course.
Say what you will about it but I think we pretty much agreed it was nice to be doing something different. Once the kinks were worked out the course ran really well.
I really enjoyed being out there.
Keith you are a great instructor, thanks for helping me drive the way I know I can! Next weekend is RWD, i'll be taking any and all pointers
And I know I already apologized for doing 2 wrong things when I stopped for a down kone yesterday but since I overhead a remark from a female I thought it best to apologize again for my mistake and that I will do better next time to remember the right thing to do. Wow, I'm not perfect but dayum I try. :lmao:

It was a very fun day! Once I ran the course once, it was on from there. I definitely learned more about my car. (Chi town brat) thanks for your help along with Keith and some others. I look forward to more events in the future (Aug.5 and 6) to be exact

Thanks for the comments on the weekend. I felt like Sunday morning was pretty rough from the organization side of things. When new things are tried there are always kinks to work out. I agree that the afternoon went much more smoothly. We learned that when running the course one way like that, the grid worker is pivotal to making it work. He needs to be able to inform timing and the finish grid worker when each "group" has completed. It's also very important to keep all cars in a group together and when reruns are due, only return the cars that need to be rerun. It seems like there would be time saved by sending the whole pack, but it makes keeping the groups organized very difficult. These realizations were the key to the afternoon running more smoothly.
There are other areas for improvement as well. Much of this can be significantly helped by getting our more regular attendees to take on some key jobs. If you find that you're showing up to the majority of our events and would like to get more in depth with some of the work that is done to run the event, speak up, we'll be glad to put you to work.

The video I saw looked like a blast. How did you guys end up working out the long distance timing issue?

That's it? No boosting the signal anywhere? I'm amazed that you got that long of a run!

Yep. We had a nice super-bright beam, just like from the short cables. It wasn't perfect, though. I don't know if it was the wind, or the length of the run, but in the morning session we were getting false finish trips all over the place! It was better in the afternoon, but there were still 4 or 5 false trips during the session. I'm wondering if the wind was pushing on the spool the cables ran through or something, because we weren't getting false start trips. Maybe next time we'll tie the interconnects into knots... take some stress off the joints.
Also a BIG THANK YOU to the guys that rolled up all that cable! Albert, Chuck Ray, and a couple other guys rolled it all back up for us before we knew what happened. A job that I was NOT looking forward to, haha. You guys rock. :D

I heard people complaining about the Sunday course, but I really enjoyed it.
Much more interesting than Saturday's course.
I know the SCCA rules would not allow it,
but with a one way course we missed out on some excellent drag racing opportunities bringing back the cars.
What a unique event that would be ..... Autocross out, Drag Race back.
Congrats to Rosco on pulling off that 5/100 of a second win.

what do you mean bitch? you don't think i was 2.4secs faster than elliot or fast enough to take the pax title??? :dbird:
i would like to thank the timing system for the HUGE error in my favor although i reported it to tony yesterday & hopefully the results get fixed, don't wanna beat elliot by cheating or all you whiny bitches who care about pax...

Thanks for the quick post on the results. Now we can come to some conclusion about street tire ranking. I don't know if anyone faster had street tires. It looked like everyone and their mom mounted race rubber.
1. Elliot 56.539
2. Jeremy 56.650
3. Tony 56.661
Talk about a close margin - .122 second. No surprise where Elliot finished, but Jeremy besting Tony? Will that trend continue, or was Tony just rusty after no autocrossing for a while?
Congrats to Rosco on pulling off that 5/100 of a second win.
I'll have you know it was closer to 6/100 of a second! :) Thanks. However, it was very little consolation after a disappointing day. On the bright side, at least we both made some clean runs!
I give the course and the new finish location the thumbs up. It will only get smoother and easier. I still wouldn't mind seeing the old style course every other time, though.

The only thing that annoyed me (aside from the false finish trips) was the lack of times at the end of the run. I think it was too much to ask one person to wrangle the finishing cars AND write down and give times to the drivers. Maybe we could do a finish-line sticky-note thing like they do at Nationals... but that would bring us to THREE extra workers needed for the whole setup...
Anyway. Something to think about.
How did you guys roll up that cable? Two holding the spool, and one turning it?

Sorry. I forgot to respond to you about that, Jason. No problem. I had no idea what an undertaking it would be when I decided to tackle that little cable.
The first cable I mostly did holding the spool in my hand, then winding. My arms got really tired. I then laid the spool on the ground and pushed it with my foot and directed the cable with my hands.
When I was almost done with the first cable, the two Ogren guys, Albert and Tony made the whole thing much easier. Tony found some kind of a bar, which he stuck through the spool. Two of us held the bar and spun the spool, while one directed the cable, and one pulled the cable into a pile nearby. This way we all stood perfectly still while winding it up. I highly recommend four people for the procedure the next time it needs to be done.

I don't think I've ever been consistently in front of Jeremy, at least not the way that Elliot is consistently in front of both of us (except that one time (http://www.cfrsolo2.com/2006/2006-04-02_gainseville_final.htm) I beat him in Gainesville). That time came from my 6th run through the course and I honestly felt like there wasn't a whole lot more in either myself or the car. It was a damned fine run. Jeremy on the other hand was more or less goofing off by then (Capt. Dorifto). The man is fast I tell ya.

I was pleased with my runs, although I think I should have used 3rd gear. I also forgot to charge the battery in my camera, so I only got video of my first run. I might post it later this week, even though it was my slowest run.
I was almost 3 seconds ahead of Elliot this time, whereas the last time we were both at Brooksville, he beat me 1.5 seconds. My new races tires and the nut behind the wheel are getting faster and my suspension is now dialed in. :D
It was nice to have one of the fastest raw times, although my PAX time sucked. Obviously, I still have work to do. I had Keith ride with me to help extract that second or so that I am missing. That didn't happen, but he reminded me that I am not getting on the throttle soon enough.
Overall it was a good event, especially after the kinks were worked out. I didn't like the course that much, but it wasn't as bad I thought when I walked it. There are some opportunities to make very interesting courses when running one-way. :)

Muddy, I heard you bumping the rev limiter though a good percentage of the long slalom. (at least 2 cones). It had to be pretty frustrating. Everytime I hit the rev limiter I think about the time I'm loosing. Luckily, or unluckily, I never bumped my revs.
Hi Rosko. I checked the math, yes you were much closer to 6/100ths of a second. Way to go champ. You know you usually beat me by a full 2 seconds, are you slipping?
I would like to see more one way courses. Thumbs up on that idea guys.

I downloaded my video yesterday, at least what there was of it. It recorded 1/2 of my first run before the battery died.
