I don't know if that's the right word, but I'm looking for a BARE BONES, Bone Stock work truck... You know, the 5-speed, 6cyl, White trucks with roll windows and vinal interior. I found ONE forsale but it was a little too beat for my liking.
I'm looking for a cheap 02-04 ram 1500, or the new body style f-150 or the chevy 1500... all short beds...
I know they'res special sites for ex-police cars, but if anyone know of a site like that for ex-work trucks please let me know.
Thanks
Just Dave

Anything used is going to be beat up. They are fleet trucks afterall.
The only thing I can think of is check the pinellas or Naples/Ft. Meyers auto traders (or their web site). Check areas that have alot of retiree's in them. Old people are cheap, old guys buy stripped down cheap trucks. They don't beat on them or tear them up.

Good advice. Yeah I know what you mean, I'm flexible but this beater wasnt even anywhere close to "clean"... I mean I walked up and the tailgate was dented it with rust, busted tail light, tears in the vinal, needed new tires, dented front bumper, missing radio buttons, and the list goes on... that was an 03 ram that was listed for 5700 and would have ended up at 6500 out the door. If there was ANY chance of finding a private seller that would be amazing, but I'll have to check out those autotraders for sure

i have been to shumate before. they are on dale mabry just north of the stadium. they do have pretty much only fleet trucks but i agree that they are expensive. but they do have a huge inventory considering the circumstances. alot of thier stuff is clean out front. the stuff out back is usually not so much.

The second Saturday of every month there is a machinery auction out off 301 North of Fowler. They have just about every car/truck you can imagine up for auction. The only catch is if you win you have to settle in cash that day. But I saw lots of "fleet" S10's and Cherokees as well as full size trucks. I think it's called Tampa machinery auction. I go out there every once in a while and buy a car to flip it just for some cash, great deals

Was that at a dealer? I ask because were I work we traded one in how you described. It went straight to the auction, I can't believe someone actually bought it and is trying to sell it.

it went to Ochee, Mr. Repo. It's passed Orlando. They claim they are all "repo's" but yeah it's pretty obvious they're all from auctions. I believe it had 103.xxx on it also

Our fleet department gives us the first shot at our old trucks, they wanted around 6500 for my last one 98 ram 1500 longbed w/80000 on it, the one i have now I'd take except it's already at 72000 with a year or so before it's due for replacement, it's kind of a 80000 mile test drive.
