We used to deal with buzz off for all of our alarms, tint and whatever else we may have needed.. after spending thousands there, knowing my mom on a first name basis, they now decided to fuck us over... so they have now lost out business. one thing we liked is there "high security install"... please do not tell me how its not needed or let the thread go there, we would LIKE to have that as an option though, i also want a shop that has the machine for tint that cuts it according to the car, instead of some guy free handing it.... and of course i want good quality work and customer service.

What was involved in their high security install? Im not trying to take the thread there, Im simply curious. Dalton doesn't do alarms, or anyone at your CC? I do em on the side, Clifford, and mostly all what I consider more 'high security' installs than a typical CC customer.
How many cars are you talking about, just your family?
Check the Tint sticky in general car chat, theres a bunch of good recommendations in there. I was just looking, as I need mine done as well.
AVE was always who I recommended to anyone when I lived in Pinellas. avecarstereo.com ...but I don't know about any other shop doing high security installs.

everything was just hidden really well.. the siren was either hidin, or on my mustang they put this little box around it and hid the wires to it. it would take a few mins to find it without a doubt. everything in the car was wrapped in the loom and taped, so it looked like part of the factory wiring..
its my family, but all of our cars get work done... me, my gf, dad and sister have new cars that need tint, my sister and dad need alarms right now...unfortunatly my mom just had an eclipse 5495 installed..."fully installed for 250"... idiots didnt rewire it, it has the bose... so its got a constant hiss to it, eclipse radios are usually very gradual with the volume... mine goes to about 50 for decent volume.... she turns hers to 6 and its loud (with the hiss)

For tint, call BLVD Customs and ask for their tint person. They are extremely good and do computer cut.

Pete & Jared of SoundWaves are doing my alarm as I type this. Pete said they wrap all wires with 3M electrical tape and make it look as stealth as possiable. I'll post up after I get my truck back. If you'd like to contact them..

Plant City Audio in Plant city - Get mike to do your install. I just watched him do a full alarm in an expedition with mercury switch, power everything, remote start, auto window, and the 2way pager.
The brain was ABOVE the radio - as in impossible to get to without totally dismantling the dash, the wiring was all soldered and insulated - the remote start module was so far back in the dash it is impossible to access the wires even if you could dissasemble all the black tape it was wrapped in. It took almost 4 hours with two people working on it but the outcome was so clean I doubt the dealer could tell it was in.

Another thing to consider is labor warranty. Most everyone will warranty the part, but I've heard of a few shops that make you pay for the R&R labor. Combine one of those shops with a really elaborate alarm install, and you could be out some big bucks if something breaks. Even if nothing breaks, what do they do about adjustments, like if you want your shock sensor less sensative, and that adjustment is on the burried brain? Or what if you want to add a sensor?
Not bashing any shop, or anyone...just giving you a few tips.
Tim already knows my opinion on 'hidden alarm installs' so I won't post them here. Many of you who know me know my opinion of alarms in general. As a good example...
I had a customer with a Yukon that some of you saw at one of my meets. We did a 2 way pager alarm with battery backup, microwave sensor, shock sensor, and tilt sensor. The guy took it to Ybor one night. About 2:30 am, his pager went off. By the time he could get out of the club, his truck was gone, and another car was in his spot. Not sure how they did it, but we're guessing a tow truck. 8 hours later, it was in Miami, completely stripped. Next time around, he's going to spend less on an alarm, and more on a tracking system.
They're great for convenience (locking and unlocking doors), and they'll keep casual thieves honest, but that's about it.

It's funny, because the majority of the experienced professional installers I talk to tend to disagree with going those extra 3 or 4 miles on an alarm system. They believe the cons outweigh the pros. Extensive install time (and more $$ for the customer) as well as a major PITA to service, repair, or replace the unit makes it just not worth it IMO when really you're probably only going to fool the novice theif. Most anyone experienced, or just really determined, is going to get the car no matter what...or simply destroy it out of frustration. Like Toby said, tracking systems would probably be a better choice given the quicker recovery time.

Another good thing about the newer tracking sytems is that you can actually track it yourself...not like the old LoJack.
"Hello Police? My car was stolen, and I tracked it to this warehouse in Drew Park. The car is here, along with a couple of dead guys...don't know what happened"

We actually just started selling them. They retail for $695, but we'll sell them for quite a bit less. It also requires a subscription to the tracking software, that is based on the number of uses. It can be as little as $10 a month, I think.
If I remember, I'll double check the prices when I'm at the shop tomorrow.
