I bought a car an it has a cd player installed but its not getting power, nor is the cigarette lighter. Anyone know how to get power to it?

Sounds like a fuse, since the cig lighter and radio constant are often on the same one.

Fuse might be called cig ligt, radio, or something like that. If you have a manual for the car, it usually lists all things powered by each fuse. Worst case, you'll need to check them all. This fuse is probably 20 amps...15 minimum, so you can narrow down your choices.

Re-check them all with a multi-meter. Just because a fuse "looks" good doesn't necessarily mean it is. Check every fuse box as well.

Its a crx I think it only has one fuse box. I don't have a multi-meter, but I do have some spare fuses I could just replace them all???

Use a single 20amp fuse and swap one at a time until it works. If I'm not mistaken, those Honda's are know for blowing the fuse when an aftermarket deck is installed. Whatever size fuse it is, I'd replace it with one that is about 5 amps larger (so if it's a 15 amp, put a 20 amp in there).

usually those fuses come in packs of like 3 or 5, and cost at the max like $1.25, they're cheap as hell, go get a few and store em for a rainy day

No, you don't need to replace every fuse because more than likely it's only one bad fuse. Get yourself one good 20 or 25 amp fuse, unplug a fuse from the fuse box, plug the good one in, see if it turns on, if not replace it with the old fuse...go on to the next one. Get it?

If you want to spend a few bucks on all new fuses though, knock yourself out...but then again it may not be a bad fuse, in which case you just wasted a couple bucks.

bahaahhahahaahahhaha:lol:

Sadly enough i actually had a friend who did that when his stereo crapped out too. It was probably the worst thing i ever heard in my life. It was one of those boomboxes from back when we were all kids and thought it was the most awesome thing to plop one up on a shoulder and walk around like that.

haha! NO I did not go to Wal-Mart and get a boom box, I got it at Bestbuy. Just kidding. I went out and tried all the fuses and none worked. Unless the car has another fuse box I dont know about that isn't the problem.

check under the hood for a fuse box and if there is none or none blown then just run a new wire 12-14ga for hte radio and the cig lighter. Dont pull the stock wiring, just crimp in the new power line and see if both get power - if they do they the line may have just been cut somewhere.

If you cant do that then lmk and ill do it.

Okay so I found another fuse box under my steering wheel to the left and there's a crap load of fuses.

I tried pretty much all of them with new fuses, found 2 10's burnt out but that still didn't fix my problem, it also looks like there may be a couple fuses missing but I don't know what amps would go there.

I took a couple of pictures, maybe someone can take a picture of there's so I have a diagram of something to work with?

u can go to the public library and look up the fuse diagram on the car for free it will tell u which fuse to use and where to find it. if its not a fuse its the wireing on the radio itself.
