what is it with audio noobs and kicker? is their ghetto propaganda that good???
Lets set the record straight once and for all:
KICKER REPRESENTS MIDDLE CLASS SUBS THAT PERFORM WAY BELOW PAR FOR OTHER SUBS IN THEIR SAME PRICE RANGE.
you can buy walmart subs that perform on par with kicker subs. I suggest diamon d3s - they have the longest excursion for their price(which is less than CVRs)

What do a set of L7's go for? I really like (and sell) the Crossfire subs. So far, they seem to have an answer for just about every other sub brand. They sound good, hold up well, and are (IMO) reasonably priced.

like 2 inches man, if you've seen his D3, it gave me the representation of a 10" sub from when i first saw it but when i looked closer it just has a huge rubber surround, like 2 inches radius all around! the xmax should be enormous. :-o
I actually liked that sub very much, and i'm going to have to agree with Dalton and Toby, both choices are very valid.
As for the kicker thing......

i think thats the type of people with the mentality that buy these things, Tim hit it right on the money, they honestly dont care that the ho has some snaggly ass teeth, anorexic, and a hairy butt for a face..images/smilies/rcain.gif..a fuck is a fuck.
the same people who buy BOSS amps to power their subs.......:squint:

the d312d2 has xmax 11 or 12mm? I have the data sheet I can check at home for sure. The Kicker CVR has an "EXmax" of 12.64 at 2ohms.
I will put my d3 against a cvr if anyone is willing to back up their crap talking at the next meet... the problem is anyone serious about car audio runs and hides from CVRs because they smell too much like ricer.
the number to beat will be 134-135 unless I miraculously find out what I fukd up on the last box and get it back to 137.
some more info:
the d3 and the cvr both handle 400wrms the fs on the cvr is 23hz, which give better low response than the d3's 38hz

The Crossfire BMF1214 (dual 2 ohm 12) has an xmax of 14mm, and Fs of 25hz. The P1214 (one step down from BMF, dual 2 ohm 12) has an xmax of 10mm, and FS of 24.6hz.
Might be fun to put each of these up against your D3, as well.

that confused me too
if kicker is apparently more expensive around his area then it REALLY makes me question why the heck so many kids buy em

What about good ol Memphis Audio? Their older RA series were inexpensive and performed fairly well too.
Think the the MClass DVC replaced it now. Gotta love the Double roll polyprene surround.

Nice try, next time remember that the MECHANICAL xmax means very little as far as sub capabilities, its the linear xmax(which is 9mm for your DBs) thats important.

That's disappointing that Polk would even publish the 25mm number. I'm sure other manufacturers do the same, but its still shady. I guess I should be happy they at least published the linear number, as well.

I have Kickers now and I love them. :dunno:
I had some Rockford and Crossfires in the past. Can't complain about any of them.

girls dont hear things as good as guys, something about the hunter within us... or im just a dumb sexist bastard that hates kickers ;):D
Yeah i am now a bit disappointed with my xmax which is pretty fargin low, but they still sound good and i still occassionally get compliments so im fine with them for now.
I'll have to say im seriously considering going with either crossfire or stick with all polk or something. Going to probably sell these amps once i get enough money to buy some new ones... going to go for SQ instead of SPL perhaps... shit anyone can fart out a one note wonder and rattle a bit but i was really impressed by how toby's ... uhh whatever it was with the beautiful IB in it sounded. I think i just find more application in SQ.:nerd:

not to be a dick, but you must not have an ear for music.. which is fine, makes buying audio a hell of alot cheaper for you .. but fosgate and kicker are for sure not known to be clean sounding subs.

thats good, at least we hear opinions, then i get to shoot them down if its kicker =D.
But yeah its all personal preference; and hey if you cant tell the difference between a kicker L7 and a Polk SR or something equally high quality, then hey, all the power to you, more power for ya then!
but i just find my ears picky, which is starting to get a little aggravated with my system, it sounds great at low(er) volumes right now, not getting to aggressive, but i just loved Toby's setup so much they're just jealous right now! haha. I want to really go into something qualitywise as that, i want people to get in the car and instead of say "WHAT DAN< WHAT THE HELL DID YOU SAY!?#!@?!" they can go "oh my FREAKIN gosh, its like the person singing is right to my left and the dude is playing at my right!!!!! This is bitchin'!" (cough, remember that toby? haha)
yeah SQ is gonna be my friend in the future, i've played loud enough and decided its probably not really for me.

i haven't had a chance to hook it up. on paper it looks unstoppable for the price... but that doesn't really mean much in car. my funds for the rest of the system shriveled and died long ago. i gave them a viking funeral in march, actually. hopefully i'll hit the lotto so i can make that lonely sub sitting in my closet into something useful.

Other than the Ben Milne Love Parade I can't find any real reasons not to give it a shot. I've been looking around and not that much has changed since I was last reading up on car audio stuff two years ago. I was kinda expecting 15 new bandwagon sub brands but there were only one or two (Ascendant Audio for one).
I'd honestly rather go with an IDQ 12, but I keep coming back to what amp I would use to power it. Really, the deal they've got on the nine.2 amp is hard to beat, and I already have essentially the same amp (Avionixx 400.2) and like it. I figure I'm going to go for the package deal and then sell off the sub if I really don't like it for some reason. I've heard some of eD's old stuff and liked it, so I think it will be fine. Still, if anybody has some suggestions on a good ~200 dollar amp to push around 400 watts, I'd appreciate it, just to have some options.

Image Dynamics is going through some sort of change...they are very difficult to get ahold of, and product does seem scarce. They have a forum on their website, and I saw some kind of post about all the new stuff being behind schedule...probably also want more of the old stuff gone, as well.
Also, per their site, sounddomain.com is the only authorized internet retailer. So, they will probably have stuff before mmpress
Their stuff does show up on ebay farily often, and they even sell some of it themselves. I picked up my ID horns on ebay, and have been trying to reach them about becoming a dealer, but so far, no luck.

Sounddomain had the IDQ 12s on their site just two days ago, but I just went to grab the link and they're gone now. Guess that's not really an option, heh.
