I just got a Bazooka Tube and installed it into the back of my 95 Altima. When I close the trunk it gives me a loud woofing noise that sounds like ground noise. When the car is on (keys in the iggy) it does it, if they arn't in then no noise is emitting. Anyone got a clue? I'm still new to cars and doin ym best to get things done. Thanks!

you are saying its ground loop noise that only happens when the car is on. That means the alternators pulses arent being filtered properly by the amp.

First resand the ground location to metal and solder the crip that goes to ground.

Then check for loose connections including faulty RCA plugs.

Then put an inline choke on the positive power supply(can be purchased for 10/20$ I have a few laying around you can have if you come to the audio meet.)

ok cool thanks ill give that a shot!

The woofing or noise only happens when the trunk is closed when it is open the sound comes through clean.

what are you using to power the amp in the tube? hopefully it isnt the trunk light power ;)

16 guage wire, that shouldnt be a problem tho, the wiring harness for the bazooka uses 18 guage, plus the tube was hooked up in my buddies car using the same wiring with no problems plus a bazooka el is only 30 watts

yeah but WHERE are you running the power line? to the battery or to something else.

it is runnign straight ot the battery at the positive feed

if the positive is direct to battery I woul ddefinitely look at the ground for the problem - are you using any crimps in the wire? if you are try soldering the connections all the way through.

I had a guy come by my shop with a similar problem. Turns out he grounded it to the trunk 'arm'...the part that holds the lid up, and moves up and down when you open and close the trunk. It only made a good ground when the trunk was up, and the arm touched the truck edge.

Like Dalton said...check the ground.
