Whats the difference between the trim panel where you normally put a gauge panel in a 87-93 vs a 79-86?

They sell full length pillar pods for the newer fox bodies but i've not seen on for the 79-86 style. Whats it take to make it work. Or where can I get a 79 2 gauge 2 1/16 pod full pillar?

 

i thought they were the same.

 

i had one in my 85 t-bird requires a little trim of the pod
