I remember doing that to my 98 neon rt in 99 but the battery was in a box for safety.

the tube is a couple of things...the 90 bend is from a merker xr4ti, and the alum. pipe is from some shitty aftermarket intake...

as for the tranni...100.00 ......

why is it safer...?.....there is far more heat in the engine bay, and its not really boxed, unless plastic makes youy feel safe....

is it because of the fuel tank....if so what could happen?...

if your in a wreck that bad, tha last thing im gonna worry about is the batt....

when i put mine in the trunk i used a plastic box...one concern many people has was to have a vent for possible fumes/ air flow.

this was mine

and this is what i was telling you about when i just cut the tray and left the battery.

The reason for the box is to protect from fumes from acid or a possible acid spill. All I can say is better to be safe than sorry. Plus it's really cheap to buy a battery box.

yeah better be safe..the box can vent the fumes/gas produced during charge/discharge

ok makes sense, kinda....but if its not in a box , theres no need to vent , right?

so all im really worried about is an acid spill.....?

which is rare, and as much as im in my trunk wont go on un-noticed anyway...
