Default High idle?

my car starts, but idles around 3,000rpm's. I have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, and i dont think i have it adjusted right yet, but could that do it?

if not, what do you think it is?

its a z6 turbo btw.

changed your TPS recently? they go bad, and that would do it....

as for the FPR, yes that can affect your idle, as a higher pressure would allow more fuel to spray through the injector when it opens....

other thing is the throttle butterfly in the TB, ive cleaned many a TB and adjusted that 7mm allen set screw so the butterfly plate doesnt stick, only resulting in setting it too far open....

i think a little more info about the nature of the prob might help (i.e. did it happen all of a sudden? you change parts? etc...)

*EDIT* the thing about the FPR is, you should be able to close it off while the engine is running, and watch the idle drop. if that doesnt happen, i would say that its another problem.

ok, so wait. CLOSING the screw on the top will make it LOWER? I havent really found out how that worked.

and i just swapped this engine in, so i guess anything could be bad.

Pull the vaccum source of the FPR and see if it gets better . WHo chipped your ECU and what basemap is it running on ?

haha i hate that shit... took us 3 days to get a ITR/Skunk2 build on a B18C to idle enough to get it tuned....

but regardless, i would have to see a pic, but there are two screws to adjust on a standard TB: a big one with a slot in it, that you cant see the body of, just the head (about 1 cm across) and then a little tiny allen set screw, held by a 7mm nut, that sits behind the brass pulley that works the throttle butterfly via the throttle cable. as you can tell my opening and closing that pulley, the little allen screw stops the plate from closing too far. sometimes, this plate will stick, and you have to adjust that screw out to keep the plate just slightlty more open to keep from sticking. in your case tho, i think the plate my be too far open, resulting in the airflow of higher RPM and the TPS reading higher than normal for idle.

lmk if that helps, i can get a pic if u need one....

Is it a continous high idle or is it bouncing?
