I think Im going to do things a bit different on my car. The big cam stuff is nice, it sounds badass, but Im tired of the big cam headaches and with gas over $3.xx a gallon, it sucks to drive around. It takes me almost a full tank to go to clearwater and back just crusing :( Im going to get a set of 6.0 heads and a 02+ LS6 cam so its going to be back to stock drivability below ~3200 RPMs ;)

The turbo is my next buy. Its going to be a DBB T76-GTS. Its already got the upgraded T76 log (2" primaries, etc..) and a 3" DP. Im only looking for ~600 RWHP all the time. The old schoolers know I was a N2O freak at one time and I miss all that TQ. N/A is just flat ass boring anymore. :D This is my long term project though. I could finish it in a month or so, but I dont want to run myself into CC debt. The hot side will be ceramic coated or just wrapped in exhaust wrap (havent decided which would be best) and the cold side will be powder coated. Im going to change the intercooler so if anyone wants to buy this one (its the Turbo Technologys upgraded 1500 CFM unit), let me know.
Should be a fun little project ;)

so with the 6.0 heads and the Z06 cam what would that bump your hp to? and why the 6.0 heads? and not the 5.3? is it cause your getting the turbo?

awesome, how many different setups has the ss seen now?
turbo will be fawking bad ass, cammed ls1s are bad ass but I'd rather have a spool sound than lope :D
what are the specs on the ls6 cam? I've seen quite a few boosted guys go with this, must have good lsa and overlap for boost

2kSnakeater: Heres a run down on my setup since I dont think many know it ;) Actually, check out my Garage here. I have a set of 5.3s now that are milled .030 for a 58cc chamber. Im ~11.2:1 compression now and we know you need lower compression for boost. With the 6.0 heads, they will have a 74cc chamber and with the 6.0 MLS headgasket and my 2cc valve reliefs in the pistons, Im hoping it will be around 9.5 or less. Reason for the 6.0s is for the bigger chamber. The 6.0 and LS6 heads are the same runners, just the 6.0s have abigger combustion chamber.
myltwon: Since is the 3rd motor, 4th cam, 3rd set of heads, 4th exhaust... its seen a lot :D I really miss my bottle. Running around N/A all the time is boring and I dont want to spray anymore because I got tired of the bottle running out after 4 runs. I used to go through 2 bottles on a Sat. night. That adds up fast. The 02+ LS6 cam is: 204/218 .551/.547 117.5. People are making over 700 RWHP with the cam ;)
ghost 727: Not missing a header. You use the stock LS1 mani for the pass. side. This is just TTis street kit. They have a race kit the has made over 900 RWHP, and it has tubular headers for both sides, but you lose the A/C. Keeping the a/c in FL was very important to me. I keep everything with this kit. The only thing that moves is the alternator to the top side of the motor and the turbo sits where the alt. used to be at.

the T76 GTS will support over 1000rwhp...but i would go with the GTQ if ya wanted a quicker spool on it. they also offer an 80mm option now btw for the PTE-T76 :)
my best suggestion as far as the cam goes, DO NOT use the Z06 cam on a turbo setup, especially with the log manifold...you usually want more intake duration than exhaust duration with a turbo cam, and also the log manifold is unefficient and cause excess backpressure that will cause exhaust gasses to reverse. ideally, a 224/218 cam would be great for what ya wanna do.

I looked at the GTQ, but the log mani will only support just over 600 RWHP before backpressure takes its toll. The 3" DP will also become a restriction. The 80mm is just too big. No point to it, but wasted money.
...... actually, I was wrong, Im getting the GTQ, not the GTS... whoops... You cant get the GTS with an on ceter housing. I got my letter mixed up. :D
Theres lots of people running the LS6 cam in their turbo setups. It seems to be the "cam to have" for the LS1. I have a long time until I get one, so Im still looking though. Why would you want more intake duration with a FI setup? It would seem that with positive pressure, youd want more exhaust duration to help move the exhaust out faster since air is being forced in. The LS6 cam is also cheap and can be had for next to nothing. ;)

Damn Carl, I had no idea you were getting this serious. That's cool as hell.
Last weekend we got the LS2 and TH400 mocked up in my friends FC RX-7. He's got good rods and pistons for it, and a set of aftermarket heads. Carb intake converted to EFI and a turbo setup going in it. Should be kinda quick.

why this and not the STS setup?

hehehe.. yep. I want to have some fun Dave. Its still a street car (full interior, big ass stereo, 18s, lowered, etc..), but I miss the torque. Ive always wanted a boosted car and I couldnt pass this kit up. It only had a 100 miles on it with all the upgraded parts. The T76 log and 3" DP are $1k alone. You friends car sounds sick. I would love to check it out sometime!
About the STS kit... The ground clearence on them suck. Also, there are some that have water problems and since I drive my car in the rain and with the amount of rain we get.... You get the picture. Ill have about as much into this kit as what a basic (T60) STS kit would cost me, but Ill have a front mount IC and a T76. There are always people selling their STS setups on Tech.... theres a reason ;) Its a nice setup, but a front mount turbo is still the way to go.

I dont wanna hear about missing torque, be confined to driving a little 4 banger truck for 5 months and see how much you miss torque then :)
Good luck with it. I wanna drive it when its done..... well at least a ride, its been a while since ive felt anything with 500+hp

Im undecided. I have some stuff to cut and reweld so I might do it at Dads. Im going to get all the parts together at one time and do it all at once so hopefully its not down for more than a week since I have to strip the motor and such.
