This is A E-mail I just looked at today.

GT-R’s U.S. Nameplate Announced

Since the unveiling of the GT-R PROTO at last October’s
Tokyo Motor Show, Nissan has continued development of the
legendary GT-R sports coupe. And while details about the
next generation GT-R have been few, one important piece of
information was made public today.

Mr. Carlos Ghosn, President and CEO of Nissan Motor Co.,
Ltd., kicked-off the New York International Auto Show with
the exciting revelation that the GT-R will be sold in the
U.S. as the Infiniti GT-R.

As part of his keynote address at the International Motor
Press Association Breakfast, Mr. Ghosn said that when he
unveiled the GT-R PROTO, Nissan had not yet decided whether
the GT-R would be sold as a Nissan or an Infiniti in the
United States.

Mr. Ghosn also expressed enthusiasm that the heart-pounding
GT-R will build on drivers’ passion for the Infiniti brand.

Thought I would Just share it with you Guy's.

What's your thought About the GT-R being Under the Infiniti Name?? :thumbdwn:/  ??

imo oppinion, listing under infiniti will be the right mood, that alone will mean that the right people are targeted. most who look at infiniti know they want quality, they want some of the best offered, not to mention there will be less sticker shock, since those are retailed higher than nissans. would it make sence to put the GTR on the same lot as a sentra? now having a base G35 next to a GTR will help sales a lot, but then again imo...

Just look at Price's of the G35 and the 350z..is there that Much Diffrent in price.. Nooo,One's A Infiniti and One's A Nissan.

Of course' the Gt-R won't be Cheap But also it's not A Ferrari.

Is it Considered A Exotic? I don't think so if SO then Someone Smack me.

The only reason The old One's Are more for the U.S. Customer's is the Importing fee's and Legal fee's etc.. In other Country's they are not that expensive,You could just buy one,get A tag,get in and go.

not entirely tru, gtrs are still decently expensive overseas.

It will be more appealing to high "class" buyers since it is an infiniti. The whole consumer car world sees infiniti as amore classier car than nissan..either that or they think they are two completely different manufacturers. It is just another reason to raise the price a wee bit more...

OMG IT'S A COP
04-24-2006, 05:09 PM
there is currently a class action lawsuit by serveral infiniti dealerships across the country because nissan is planning on keeping the gt-r a nissan car. appearantly they assumed that they where getting the car and now it seems they aren't.

BUt that's The main reason why people think the New one will be MOre Money Just because people had to pay more to Import the old Skyrhine's here to the U.S,It's A diffrent Story when The Maker Bring's the car here to sell..The car Will be Cheaper then to Import it yourself.. if you don't know that your Dumb.

find yourself a bit amusing? this whole thread turned into a pissing match, all i have to say is that nissan made a decision, live with it and be greatful the the GTR was brought here at all, its not like you could afford one when it first rolls off show room floors anyway, so just look forawrd to dreaming about the one you see in a parking lot....

a 30-35k car is freakin expensive as hell and it will probably cost more, sure the new skylines look nice and all but for $15k you can build a 240/FC/Civic that would kill that car in a straight line, looks "aka" widebody, and in the turns.

and GM does own isuzu, I needed a driveshaft for my 90' isuzu pickup and just used an s10 4cyl one. but you can't say ford rx7 :( thats like saying toyota cavalier although that is what they are called in japan but it doesn't go right.

NEW YORK -- Nissan Motor Co. will sell the high-performance GT-R sports car as a Nissan in the United States, not an Infiniti.

The car is due in the United States in 2008, about a year after a redesigned version goes on sale in Japan in fall 2007.

Infiniti dealers in the United States had clamored for the car. But Carlos Ghosn, CEO of Nissan Motor, said the GT-R is a Nissan in all other markets.

Ghosn spoke Wednesday at the New York auto show.

OMG TEH SKYRINE?

From a business perpective Infiniti is the higher class of Nissan and since the new Skyline is supposed to be in competition with the new z06 along with the GT500 then it will probably be in their price range as well $50-60k for a GT-R, maybe even 70k.

Also isn't there supposed to be a cheap model as well?

Putting it under the Nissan name will thrill Nissan enthusiasts but the regular business man looking for a sports coupe would look into the Chevy Corvette z06, the Ford Mustang GT500, and the Infiniti Skyline GT-R.

Personally I'd rather it be under the Nissan nameplate simply because its always been like that overseas... sort of like the Toyota Altezza/Lexus IS300.

Oh well, we will see when it comes over. If it is a V8 TT it better be puttting down some numbers 500+ I'd hope. I'd much rather see an inline 6 with the TT setup but whatever Nissan/Infiniti does is there problem, at least they are finally bringing something to stir up the rest of these cars, isn't much going for the current import sports cars, would be nice to finally see something new and refreshing.

I don't see why all you guys are hyping this car up so much. 99% of you guys here probably won't be able to afford it and chances are North America will probably get bamboozled with the motor selection. They will probably put something weak in the US models while the rest of the world has a bad ass engine. 1000hp gtr, I'd like to wait and see considering the initial cost is so high. I think Nissan should have just branded it Skyline, no Nissan or Infiniti. Thats how they do it over seas. Of coarse they should put them in the infiniti lots b/c of the price.

Hes probably right though, I can't afford one but then again I wouldn't want to. As much as ANY brand new car costs you can make a mid 80's early 90's sports car that would kill it in every aspect of performance for wayyy less then what a new car cost like a 350z or one of them shitbox Rx8s, and everyone knows that is true.

This is the thing:

Its a smart move for Nissan for one reason, people wouldnt want to spend $75,000 for a nissan. Not saying we wont, because we know what it is. but as for the older generation who buys infiniti as a luxury car it makes perfect sense. Nissan Vehicle W/ infiniti pricetag equals big bucks. and they could nt be doing this at a better time when you have bmw, which is a competitor of infiniti, just release their M5 505 HP sedan, and not to mention there 505 V10 M6 Convertible. which both sell just at $100,000.

Infiniti released the m45 which IS faster and is more electronically equipped with more goodies than the 5, 6, or 7 series beamers, and it sells for $40,000 less then them. Like i stated before, people view nissan as the japanese competitor to toyota, mitsubishi, and honda. as does infiniti, lexus, bmw and mercedes.
