Well, the time came to say goodbye to the KA24E that has served me so well. I'll miss you :(
Now, In with the new! It's an S14 SR20DE! Mods so far are SPEC 6 puck clutch and Trust rocker arm stoppers. A big thanks to Doug and Erik at Fairlady Motors in Tacoma and Erik's room mates Nick and Stephen. Also, a big thanks to my brother Mark and everyone at XATracing for helping me find parts.

haha, NA bitches.
however, that is one of the cleanest once cams i have ever seen. i bet you could actually sell that thing.........for money
i started to think that once cams were supposed to leak oil to lubricate the external engine parts.

they both clearly have there advantages and disadvantages but if youve drifted a det and a de shit ill take the det any day. all my buddies that tried drifting there de's just didnt have the power and quickness,
of course all is void if the de is built of course thats a different story

I'll agree. To each his own. I'd take a DE over a Twerbo any day as well. It takes mad skill to drift with no power, and Matt is up to the task.

o yes you definatly have to be more "creative" with less power.
and overall looks good man. how much you pay for the motor?

still no ka TQ. i ouwld have just gone with a a nice s14 ka with some bolt on's. let me know what it makes. my ka made 157hp/160tq and ran 14.9 in the quarter. but lack of top end power pawned me.

DET vs. DE for drifting? It really depends on the driver.
I can't really say how much I paid.
This engine has a high powerband, I think it keeps going up all the way to 6800 or 7000 rpm. But, you probably know this already ;-)

a couple guys had them when i was in high school overseas. and drifting them compared to my buddies cadets and srdets i like the turbo more but you just had to keep the rpms up more.
although i cant really say shit because my jz70 sucked for drifting in my opinion

for a begginer hell yea it sucked. dude it was to wide and heavy. i was also just starting out, but gettin in a 13 that thing would just whip around so easily.

That's because S13's drift themselves.
I can see JZA sucking for drifting for a beginner, but once you can use the weight to your advantage...

well my supra is hard, but it's n/a and auto. i bet i could drift the shit outta a jza70 lol.

Yeah, it's better.
Turbo Lag = Fucking Ghey
So what's different between a turbo SR before boost comes in and an N/A SR where the boost never comes in?
Turbo Reliability = Fucking Terrible
I'm saving this for the next thread about the vastly superior reliability of Nissan's.
Turbo Overheating = Shoot Yourself
I'll give you that one. But drifting is hard on any motor.

Drifting isn't hard on toyotas. Especially 4age.
And I have very good reasons for saying nissans reliability sucks my ass. The motors last okay but everything attached to them fails constantly.

10-1 compression .. = pretty decent power and more torque sooner in the curve
ive had 2 na sr motors and i have loved them bolth very much even though they were fwd cars i really love those motors..if i was going to buy and build another nissan it would be alot like matts car... you go man with your dare to be different self!
