Not really a driving question, more of a 'how you see yourself' in the drifting community.
Either a lead car
or the follower...
nothings wrong with being a follower, but don't be afraid to make that pass in the turn to be a leader for a while, besides
IF YOU ALWAYS FOLLOW YOU CAN'T PICK YOU OWN LINE.
I need some people to help me lead our relatively small community into the next step.
only rules are these:
you can't fear ridicule
you love drifting
you want fans someday
you wanna be apart of something bigger than yourself.
those of you that will INEVITABLY FLAME me, are not ready to lead, you just think you are. those of you that are ready, welcome and i look forward to driving next to you.

in driftin yes, but cmon, hypothetically.... :-|
It's cool that this stuff excites you so much. I am not really sure I understand what you are trying to do. Creating new things in florida is a good idea, but I hope I am wrong when I assume that this is all just hype over the fasttruck stuff. I have no problems with it, but lets get one thing straight. To support our community, you have to do it in all forms, and for all events. There are a select few people here who have given up alot of their own time and money to get this kind of stuff started.
I hope I am not coming across in a bad way, I have 0 problems with you whatsoever. I just want to set the record straight that there are people busting their asses to help out. And while the Florida Drift community is pretty small, there is definately no lack of "leaders" and by that I mean pioneers to this industry/sport.
But with that all said, I look forward to seeing what happens and meeting you. There is always room for improvement, especially with local events.
yah, theres like what 4 people on this forum who have probably ever truly tandem drifted
and following somebody on a oval is not tandem drifting.
but to answer the question i like front and back, i like going in the front because obviously it is fun to have somebody pushing at you from behind.
not trying to be cocky but there isnt many people who drive faster then i do
(in this area obviously), so i always enjoy following somebody with some decent skill.
as for the passing, keep that shit for nascar.

yea you are right on with what im trying to get done, i dont wanna have to 'fight' for new events to be accepted. but its more than that... the bs on the forums is still everywhere it seems, everyone is too concerned with 'not being part of the cool guys' instead of driving your ass off. other states succeed cuz they goto every event they can.
i went to both ocala and robs (shift-locks) event this weekend and had fun at both. i support ANYONE trying to do events but i highly dislike the constant unrelenting bashing on events that i have enjoyed and i want others to find out its not BS. im not trying to 'put fastdrifter events on top' im trying to get people to give it a try, we got kinks worked out and its getting better everytime.
i know there are gonna be better events (non oval) that arise soon and i told bobby thats what we need to work on getting, we need more stuff for our sport than the same thing over and over. he listens to what we have to say and openly admits he doesn't know enough about our sport. but he has to work with what he's got, once he gets the crowd, and gets some dedication out of more of us, he can pursue more troublesome venues with the support of a 'series' taht travels aroudn the state, hopefully next year a 'dedicated set of teams' for a real championship style series only need 10 or so drivers to make it happen.... then open lots (safety and medical and insurance isnt 'built-in' like it is at a track) and others will be more open if they see a benefit i.e. SPECATORs to fill the stands and not jst drivers to fill the track. that in turn brings in retailers and sponsors. bobby has the experience, he just has never dealt with teenager based sport in this way... we are too much about what they can do for us, its a trade off here, we get to drive, they get to sell us as a specatacle.
good times will be had, trust me, you will enjoy your day as long as you keep it off the wall.

yea we did infield more than the oval really, and yea i was stupid and forgot our layout of course, but bill was pretty close from what i saw in my video, and its more about entertainment in the crowd... they are there to be excited and to them, that shit was insane and crazy, to you and most everyone, i prolly will somewhat dissapoint. btu i dont care lol. i had a blast

i usually lead because I have a faster car, when I lead its just do what you usually would do except now there is someone who is following so it is your job to do your best and definitely not spin. the most fun thing to me is following though. just following the person's line and getting close is fun and helps you learn how to keep control of your car even better. and of course if the person is taking a bad line you can make a pass but passing is kind of dangerous with non advance people because it can through off the lead person and be bad!

obviously, yes, you are throwing symbolism out there to check out who all in the drifting community is ready to "ascend" to reach "higher levels" and become a strong member when it comes to the community and the skill (leader).
I don't really know if I want fans someday though, so I guess I can't follow the rules. I just want to get out there and have fun, seat time on the street or on the track and get better.
Haven't ever done a tandem myself but sat along for a couple and I can say it seems most fun leading and more challenging following, in the sport they are equally as satisfying but in metaphoric terms I suppose leading ftw?

forgive me for not folling everything, but what is this "new" thing? I am f'n crying to drift now a days. I miss the old days of sick street tandem @ spots.
oh btw, I like to lead, i am faster than most so it gives me an advantage.
following is much more skill building though.
