Default SVT Tuned...finally

Well I finally got sick and tired of the SVT randomly stalling, hesitating, and hunting for idle. I shelled out $375 for the SCT Xcalibrator 2 tuned by FocusSport out of California. Needless to say this is something I should have purchased long ago. The car had no balls below 4k and when the DSI finally kicked in at 6k it would pull strong up to redline. Now the car's feels strong across the entire rpm range. FocusSport revises the DSI activation point and kicks in a bit earlier...so now it no longer sounds like I have "mad VETEK, yo" when I hit 6k. As far as I can tell (won't really know until I drive it tomorrow), the random stalling/sputtering/hesitation issues are gone as well.

So for all those SVTF owners on TR considering this modification....DO IT! This was definately worth the money.

I haven't dyno'd my car just yet. FocusSports' stock SVT with an open element air filter was given a lower 91 octane tune (I have a 93 octane tune). Peak gains were 6hp and 7ftlbs at the wheels. Not too shabby for just a tune on a n/a car. IMO the power gains are secondary only to the increased driveability of the car. No idea what the hell SVT was smoking when they tuned these vehicles.

Plus I went for the optional early fan activation and traction control defeat. Ford decided it would be a good idea to have a two part traction control: timing and ABS. Even when you turn off the TC, it still fiddles with the timing and ABS when the wheels slip below 20mph. The defeat option completely disables the timing portion of the TC. The ABS portion cannot be defeated unless I yank the ABS fuse.
