At the above location there is beautiful un-molested blacktop in the shape of a giant question mark (approx. 1/4mile in length). My idea is to get a cop, firetruck, and ambulance, charge $5-$10 admission, and make it a 1/2mile roadcourse for a day. The course itself looks like it is going to be a housing community, but it doesn't have any houses yet. It currently has a chain-link fence and padlock blocking access from the street, but you can walk around it. Not going to lie, the first thought I had was if I knew anyone with a bolt cutter. Then I was thinking about a legal alternative. If we can get the aforementioned people, and they can keep the proceeds or give it all to charity, I think it could work. I think the course is wide enough to do two cars at a time, maybe 2-3 laps at a time. We could even break it down into approx. power/weight classes. If anyone lives in the area, try to check it out and see what you think.

It is and is not a public road. It does have street signs, but is not open to the public yet (chain-link, padlock). And since there are no houses on it yet, I thought it might be feasible.

even if it's closed off, good luck convincing the development company to let you run a motorsports event there.

I presume this road has curbs as well? Curbs flip cars. They're a safety hazard. Good luck getting any sort of liability insurance for the site. (Which again goes back to good luck getting the development company to give you authorization to run there. Particularly without an umbrella policy to cover their asses.)

Yes, it does have curbs. I understand everything that you said. It was just so beautiful I had to bring it up. Oh well. So Sebring is the closest real track?

Probably for you. Possibly the gainesville test track.

Mid-Ohio is closest for me. :-D

From the sat images, it looks to be no wider than the driveways in the neighborhood to the east. I don't know if you'd be able to set up much of a course.

Sat images? Damn, so is it a bad idea that every now and then I look up at the sky and smile? I've basically already given up the idea. But there is enough room for two cars running at a time, just as long as they aren't tanks.

i don't know, that also sounds like it would leave little margin for error, just give ita little hush hush, buy a new lock and cut it and run it yourself at like 1AM, then put your own lock back on and screw with em

I would love to... but since I've broadcasted it, I would be the first one people would come searching for. :-| Damn me and my own ideas.

I'm close enough. Plus there are atleast 3 cops living in the next complex over (which I thought would make it easier to get them to supervise). So I think I'm going to pass.

Check that site out. Miles and miles of un-developed roads. I have been there and its shady but there are some nice places out there that could be closed off and have an event. Its just outside of Weisdale FL, about 1:30 from SR 56 and I75. I don't know who owns the land. It started as a huge development that went bankrupt after they built the roads. There are maybe 10 houses out there, no street signs and no curbs. Good luck though as you are in shotgun country out there. Liable to get a peppering if you aren't careful and piss off the locals!!
