don't worry about car prep, you can run it stock and when you get better you'll be more in tune with the changes to your car as a result of better handling/power

all you really need to race is a safe car, seat belts, nothin flying around, if your stock you'll have no problem passing tech and you'll just have fun, when you first start you won't be killin times, so don't worry about having a racecar, just go out and have fun, thats what i did, stock all but wheels and exhaust, understeered like a mofo but i had a blast, good luck

i suggest come out and get some hands on experience. There are times when you can ride with some of the guys at the events we can show you the ropes and it makes it a little easier to understand.

The chances are better for all of us to win powerball than for a newb to read the stickies....

I want to win Powerball, and I read the stickies wheni first got here, GIMME A POWERBALL TICKET!!!
and you can ride with me...i'll show you how not to drive ;)
its a helluva lot easier once you have ridden with someone, if they are good, you can see what they did right, if they are like me, you can see what they do wrong and learn from that, but the best thing for your times will be seat times, you can have all the mods in the world and if you don't have the right technique, your not going to do very well. Just go out and have fun
good luck
Justin

yeah, talk to Loren about it, i don't know if they will let you drive or not at 15, unless you have like both parents in the car, wait, i'm thinking of the SCCA, to get in, yeah, when you get your license it will make you a lot better driver, especially in traffic, you'll know how to control your car better and know the limits, I.E. stopping, cornering, etc.
especailly if its RWD, you won't kill yourself, what car is it by the way??

Yep. You cannot ride or drive a car unless you are a licensed driver, although the scca has a kart class that allows minors to compete.

ok now that i can talk without hurry, my soon-to-be-mine car is an '02 honda accord special edition 2.3 liter, 4 door, 4 cylinder, 4 speed automatic with a F23A1,4 engine. well at least i think its a 4 speed. :lol:

Anyway, its a little too big for circuits. I seriously have no clue what i'm gonna be able to do to it. the engine is a pain to find parts for. I talked to my friend and he told me a could always switch out the engine for an F22 i think he said.

What do you guys think about that? i mean i will me easier to find parts for that engine. I dont know though.

<old guy advice>
When you're 16 and someone gives you a 4 year old commuter car, you simply DRIVE the car. Don't waste your money trying to mod it, it's a grocery getter. Just DRIVE it. After you get a job and save up some money, you can sell it (and it will be worth a lot more unmodded than modded) and buy something that you like.

An Accord is not the ultimate autocross machine, but you could do a lot worse. Bring it out and have some fun when you can.

Accord is not too bad but then i'm somewhat biased since i do have a 5 spd 98 accord. The car is a pig, but don't let that hold you back. Just get out there and discover what the car's boundries. It's all in the technique my friend. Good luck!

well its a 4 cyl and a sedan so its kinda heavy, but it has a pretty good reaction time. like i took it out with my dad, he got pissed when i did this:lol: , and i floord it and it reached 30 in 2 seconds. from a stand still. so its pretty good from what i can tell:D but i am NOT doing that again!!!
