Default 6spd 350Z owners l00k here!

I'm thinking about maybe getting a 350Z. I'm thinking about a Track Model. What kinda gas mileage do you get? Do these trannies have any issues? If there are any probs you have had or heard of please let me know.

Thanks,
Frankie

My father bought an 05 Track model when they came out. That is the 300hp version of the "rev-up" VQ35. Mileage is about what was posted above. 17-18mpg in mixed driving. The trannies had synchro problems early on and were updated continually. I want to say that the 05 Track has the 5th revision of parts. Nissan was swapping out entire units in 03 and 04 due to synchro problems. Honestly though, I drove a used 03 6spd, and it was jsut a little notchy going in to 3rd.

The 6 speeds imo are not nissans best tranny. Dont know about the 350z's but the G35s at work were constantly being replaced. Hell, i GAVE one to Mattback just to get rid of it. That one was like so many other third gear grinders. the newer ones feel way different than the older ones, and we hevent had any problems with them. So i recomend driving an 03 Z or G then an 06 Z or G. Night and day. Oh, and if you buy used, definitely go to a dealer and get its maintenence history. Weve had many problems with having to REPLACE motors because a lack of oil changes on the VQ's. Seriously, do some homework on it. less than 4000mile LoF intervals, forget it.

Thanks for the tips I think I may rethink my Z idea. I might end up with a new one just for the warranty. Silviaivlis, do you work at a dealer? If so, are you guys able to move on the price or are they pretty firm?

some 350z's also had rear suspension issues as well. neg camber, but i'm not complaining. i also was informed the other day that nissan can't figure out the problem and if you confront them about it you get free tires for life, at least that is what theydo here.

Problems:
Premature front tire wear (feathering)
03 cars had tranny issues, but new trannies were issued in 2004.
03 cars have a pretty common issue with power window motors breaking.
Paint chipping on the center console.

Gas mileage is about 18-20 mpg, im not sure where the 14 gallon tank idea came from, but the tank is 20 gallons, expect to get about 350 to a tank in mixed driving conditions.
