so I have 2 12' kicker cvrs powered by a kicker kx 800.2 amp...now everything was fine until today when I decided to run it bridged. I did all of the wiring correctly, and it sounded fine but didn't make a difference. So I put it back to normal mode and now it isn't hitting anymore. Its making noises though like the subs are trying to hit (a low thudthudthud repeatedly) and whenever I turn off the car a loud THUD from the subs. Now come to find out the wiring diagram I followed had been labeled for 4 ohms...I find the same guide on crutchfield after all of this and it's for a 1ohm setup soo I dont think the amp liked that one bit. i've pulled the fuses and it's still doing this...I haven't messed with the glass fuse by the battery but it isn't blown or anything. Subs test out fine on my home system...what should I try next?

If anything, running the amp at 1ohm should have sent it into protect mode...but wierd things happen. If your subs test out fine, it could only be your amp or your deck. Unplug the RCAs and see if the subs still make a thud when you turn the car off.

yea its doing it unplugged from the headunit
hopefully I can get it fixed, if not I may just bring it to the audio meet and see if anyone has a clue what to do lol

damn.... i got that premade sub box for the 2 kicker comp vrs,, and my dad re wire the one sub 2 4 ohms because i had a weak amp i couldn't hook both up at 2 ohms and my dad is using some diagram to hook them both up to 2 ohms i hope he doesn't fuck them up

theres all of two wires in the sub box, why does he need a diagram?? post pictures before you run that stuff so we can make sure its cool.

are the dual voice coils rated at 4 ohms?...if so running them at 2 ohms isn't healthy for them...you need to make sure they are being ran at the specified ohmage setup...follow the wiring guides on crutchfield

:serious: ohmage setup eh? Were you sure to calculate the proper flux capacitance rating for the specified coil transponder output level while computing time travel for 7 years? If not then theres nothign wrong with running dual 4ohm voice coils parallel into a 2ohm load.

I'm assuming he meant isn't healthy for his amp.

correct and that's how I messed up my amp lol

correct and that's how I messed up my amp lol

Two dual 4ohm subs will supply a 2ohm stereo load which almost any amp can handle if given adequate cooling.

But If They Wired The 2 Ohm Subs X 2 - In Parrell And Bridged The Amp That Is A 1 Ohm Load = Fired Amp !!!!!!!!

I havent seen a stereo kicker amp that wouldnt trip protect mode when hit with a 1ohm load. some are actually will trip protect when they are hot in 2ohm stereo.

but if yours didnt trip into protect its a pretty good guess its damaged of blown.

damn depending on how nice of subs they are I would almost want the amp(kicker yuck!) to blow first

He should have mounted his amp under the car.
