get the evo...so the sti population in tampa stays low:lol: ...J/K both cars are really nice out of the dealership...its all on personal preference though...evo is a much easier car to modify and can go a long way with its stock block...sti needs more coaxing due to the fact that it is relatively new...basicly evo has had alot more time to improve on their format over the years...sti is fairly new...im a suby owner for life though!!!!

i voted for the EVO, since you have a import back ground. you will probly want just raw power. the evo will give you that a lot easier.

EX.
if your goal is 450whp
the evo will do it for a lot less than the suby.
tuning will be easier to find in the fl area for the EVO than the Subie, plus there are a lot more options for easier installs.

Yes, evo's are easy to work on and get tuned, but they are a pain in the ass with reliability. 2 people that i know of have had a world of troubles with them. I would go with that wrx or sti. I bet you will be really happy if you get that sti. I got one last summer and im still excited that i have it.

It really depends on what you want...
* The WRX, of course is new and will have a warranty. I've seen people running 13.8's with the '06s bone stock. This would be a great option if you want a great car that you can have fun with - a few mods here and there, etc.
* STi - used and possibly beat on. I used to own a 2004 STi that was, unfortunately beat on and ended up being more trouble than it was worth. This was part my fault for not inspecting it properly and part the dealer's fault for not disclosing the history and lying to me when I had it in for service (long story). On a lighter note, many people have bought used STis and gotten great cars! Also, the STi is going to be the most refined, with the best interior (WRX also), best transmission, more standard features, etc. It will take a bit more cash to get power, but it sure is worth it. A buddy of mine owns a shop called ...CUE>> Auto Restyling (check sig). Craig's a great guy and loves working on those Subies (I helped get a lot of his business by advertising on this site and others). I suggest you give him call if you have any questions regarding modifying your Subaru.
* Evolution - quick steering (crappy turning radius though) and more track-oriented stock suspension. The 4G63 is a great powerplant and can produce a lot of power with little mods. The Evo has a Lancer interior with a couple dress-ups...the Recaros and steering wheel are nice, but that's it. Door are thin and flimsy, body panels are flimsy.....a friend of mine just bought an Evo 9 MR - he doesn't even have 1,000 miles and it already has wuite a few rattles and squeaks.
Honestly, unless you have a good source for funds in case something breaks, I'd go with the WRX. It's new, hasn't been beat on, has a warranty, insurance will most likely be cheaper, and so will gas (better mileage than the STi or Evo). Don't get me wrong, the WRX is a very capable chassis....couple thousand dollars and you'll be in the mid 13's.

Just get a 05 Subaru Legacy GT demo.....22k drop about 3k into it for performance mods & you have a 12.6-12.8sec car;)
Plus the car responds very good to suspension mods.
The 2 biggest plus item though........
Sleeeeeeper
The LGT will save you 600-1000 yr in car ins:)

If you are going to be heavily modding go with the EVO.
If moderate mods go with the STi.
Simple.

Should have let this thread die. The op is a tool. Seriously Just do a post search on him.
I saw the OP name on the thread title and I knew it was going to be a moronic post. Of course a simple search on the cars would reveal...anything you would want to know about it. I dont know this kid personally but his history here closely resembles pointless posting. It is only a matter of time before he becomes a pest to everyone.
