i was racing my against my friend in his dakota rt leaving work today. after our run, we go around a turn and i powershift 1st to 2nd. right after i drop the clutch, the trans pops outa gear hard with a short loud metal on metal sound. now, when i mesh the clutch it doesn't roll forward. in 1st gear if i rev it after the clutch is engaged it makes a strage grinding sound and doesn't move. is it my clutch or my rear end? i'm gonna pull the cover off the rear end in the next few days and look at it, any help/opinions would be appreciated

sounds trans related, don't see how you're gonna do rearend damage from a 1-2 shift unless you are making ridiculous power and traction

and we all know LT1s dont make ridiculous power or traction. Put it in 2nd and see if it goes forward, god im soo glad I didnt trade my blazer for the Z28.

it doesn't roll in any gear, shifts in and out of every gear fine with the clutch disengaged, but not when engaged

real easy thing to do is while having a friend sit in the car, get under the side of the car and look at the driveshaft, tell said friend to put it in gear and slowly let go of the clutch. If drive shaft spins and nothing moves, its your rear end. If drive shaft doesnt move in any gear then its prob your tranny/clutch.

^^ dont forget to put the rear in the air while doing this...
