im boycotting the whole series...thats twice in a row ive gotten fucked at one of these events...i say BObby just give it up untill you know what the fuck you are doing. i don't care about your experience with any series. its not our series plus the fact is if your series does work out that means us drifting on ovals most of the time.....i think you said that the reason this idea came to be was you have oval tracks that arent making money....so you are more looking to bring in money to these tracks(you get your cut) then you are about drifting.....so maybe you are not the guy should be setting up drifting events.
ps. i fucking hate rednecks and ovals......and i would have to deal with both of those even if your events worked out correctly.

Why does everybody seem to want a martyr running events these days? When DGTrials was king of FL they started charging quite a bit per event but nobody really cared for a while b/c the events were good. They (organizers) all make money and would like to make more money. Sure, some are in it for the sport first (calm down Rob) but nobody would turn down a few extra dollars if it came their way. In reality, why should they? They work hard on their own time after their day jobs and real-world responsibilities to bring us drift events. Oh no, they actually want something in return for all the hard work and effort!!!
I'm not saying we/you should support the fast drift series. It looked like poorly run crap to me from the start and I "boycotted" their events based on my own observations. I just think it's ridiculous to bring motives into the game. I guess I feel this way b/c some of my best friends are 100x more passionate about drifting than 99% of the people on this board and their events had almost NO turnout from anybody but locals. Ter-Tech lost quite a bit of money at almost every event until they started raising prices…they broke even once or twice but then everybody bitched about the cost increase and stopped showing up. Lo and behold, they were losing money again…everybody wanted a martyr. Well boo-freaking-hoo. You pay hard to play hard. Deal or die.
Bottom line, who cares what their motives are? If the events are good and we're having a good time; let them make a few bucks. If you’re not showing up b/c you think their run like crap, fine. Don’t bring the organizer’s motives into the picture though unless they are out to rob/harm us. IMO, that kind of attitude was a big reason why everybody stopped showing up to some of the best events FL ever had (DGT). Actually, it’s true…there are plenty of posts in plain txt on this forum of people explaining their not showing up on account of the cost. Now that we have cheap events people complain about the venues. Lose – lose situation if you ask me until people stop bitching and start driving (shut up and drive?). I feel like a bit of a hypocrite having not attended any of Rob’s events but financial obligations (hospital and other bills) keep me away although soon enough I will show back up…most people have seen me at every Ter-Tech event and most DGTrials events and anybody that’s taken the time to talk to me knows how I feel about drifting. I’ve even ventured out of the state on more than one occasion for events (not saying I deserve a BJ or anything for my past efforts, I just don’t want people to think I’m one of those whiners that’s never actually taken their car on a track).
FL fail? No…not to me. FL attitude = piss poor…FACT.
Damn I typed a lot and will likely get flamed for it. Whatever. :dbird:

lots of excellent points
Drift events cost money. DGTA still only makes about enough for dinner at Sonny's for the volunteers after you subtract Insurance, Rental, Gas, EMT, etc.
I applaud Bobby & Team's determination. I would be happier if they landed safer places to play, 100% less alcohol sponsor and drifting-only events.
Although Terr-tech and Shift-Lock are, in a way, competitors to DGtrials, we are all still on the same team for the advancement of the sport. I still want Rob and Harri & crew to be safe and do well; the same goes for DST.
If you boycott, base it on dissatisfaciton of the events and not guessing at the motives of the organizers. In other words, +1 to TonyMac's post.

it all comes down to you. noone holds a gun to your head and says drift the oval or die. it sucks because i miss ocala and hialeah and all the other bad ass drift events we used to have. but you have to llok out at what the organizers want to because they could ruin it for the rest of us if yuo don't keep them in check. its not like we're on the west coast ad have a ton of places to hold events at. its florida and we have shit for venue's. even dgtrials has had some bad things come threw them. i can name off several venues' we're not allowed back to thanks to some mishandling of things. drifting is barely hanging on in this state so i can see the reason for people's concern's. but most of the people opening their mouth's aren't even the real hard core drifter's.
so STFU.
edit::: if there's an event just go to it! peroid. fuck all the bullshit, it should be about having fun, i think drifting should have stayed a hobby and not gone so main stream. it would have been alot more fun that way.

okay i don't understand.......so maybe ill do more to explain. first Fastdrifter event i went to was the mourning after i wrecked my FC..about 30 cars and we only shared the track with a few karts. second one i missed cause i didnt have my FC back...Third one i went to and it sucked...not because it was on an oval.....not because Bobby wants to make money....ive said before that it is good that he wants money...it'll make him work harder at making us happy and willing to put on a show. here is some of my issues maybe i should have just put actual facts up so i won't have all this BS attitude towards me....
1. Arguing with FAST TRUCK rednecks about practice time. it took me about a six minutes to be able to connect the whole oval. second 3 minute session.
2. Fast Trucks coming out on the course while we still had time to practice. even though the agreed to give us 30 minutes before they would run again. after every body ran once(at 3 minutes) they wanted to go.......5 cars times 3 equals 15 minutes.
3. Bobby was nowhere to be found the whole time the REDNECKS were giving us problems.
4. We paid to be in a competion and didnt get one then didnt get refunded any of the money.....just the fee waived .....then the next event cancelled ..fee waived again...how many times is that gonna happen....and how much gas money am i gonna waste to find out.
5. Bobby needs to do some research on drifting.
6. 30 cars for 1st event, 12 cars for 2nd event, 5 cars for 3rd event. i was at 2 out of 3 of those so i feel i have a right to comment on the subject.
7. OVALS DO SUCK. im mean come on the events i used to have on a kart track never had one death of a perfectly good drift car(shit not even close, well this guy did rip his front lip off and a JDM levin got a scratch in the bumper)....ive seen all the ovals here kill plenty of them.
8. No Place to set up at the last event..jacking cars up in dirt and sand WTF?
9. ALOT of other people said worst things then i did....i don't hate bobby i just think he needs to take some time to figure that shit out and not waste our times.
10. FUCK YOU TOO. hachi bill posted on one of my threads damn i must be bigtime.

my personal opinion:
there needs to be safer events for guys going out to learn to drift. your right, we have few venues, but if the only ones are ovals, and we keep going, then we're technically supporting the wrong thing.
If we create an event, and tell people its a drift event, they will come. If we say its an advanced skill event, and only let 10 or so skilled drivers in, then thats different.
There is little forgiveness for mistakes on an oval. Pave the infield, or just move the events to a track or parking lot. People wonder why attendance #'s are down, because each event a car or two gets totalled. That is NOT how drifting is supposed to be. Thats not a penalty, or a price you pay, thats a poor choice of venue, and poor screening of drivers prior to letting them onto the track.
So, I ask the event creators, to please, get us off the ovals, find us some parking lots, find us some normal tracks, skidpads, etc, and stop pushing the oval nonsense. Im tired of seeing cars come back wrecked. To say anything less is ignorant.
The scene will support any drift event, thats why kids risk totalling their cars at unsafe venues, because frankly, where else can they go. Find some other alternatives please.
