whats up fellas!!

Got some questions for ya..

I might be getting a 1999 Camaro SS with 40,000 miles on it..

Here is the ad:

This car will put an easy 450 range to the wheels the way it sits.... But I want something I can take to the track and drive.. I can with this car but I really dont want to... Let me know what you got. Thanks... I REALLY LOVE this car and Dont really care if I trade it. I WILL KEEP IT! 1999 camaro ss
This is a very clean car!! The car was painted two years ago, and still looks awsome.
The mods are
Custom paint,
eibach sportlines
Polished C5 wheels with Hoosier drag radials
mac mid-length headers
mac off-road y pipe
mac 3in. cat back
clear markers
slp grill
hurst short throw shifter
spec stage 4 clutch
slp air box k&n filter
no smog stuff
LS6 intake
I just added Patriot Performance Stage 2 heads,
Thunder racing Hardened pushrods
Thunder racing 224/112 LSA cam
Also Brand new 410 gears and a COMPLETE upgraded Rebuild kit in the Rearend... AWSOME CAR!!
The motor is a 2002 LS1 crate motor that was instaled in late 2002 (8000 miles)
The car has dark charcoal leather interior, ss floormats, t-tops, and much more.

ONLY 40XXX miles

I'm trading my GT for this car... Anyone have any suggestions or comments about the car.. Anything I should be cautious about with this year?

The only thing I'm not to be big on are the flames, but I will just get that repainted more likely.

Is there anyway that this car would put any where near 400-450 to the tires with the mods listed??

As you can tell, I'm not much of a chevy guy.:D

Thanks!

15 to 18gs i think i know they hold there value good..i know some one who just got one and they paid around 15gs and that not with half the performance stuff

It should put down around 415-430 rwhp depending on how good the heads were done up and the tuning. Mac midlenght headers arent all that great...but I have seen some decent #s with them. Not a bad car. Where is it located.

I would say value is a little less than what Ghost 727 said. id say between 14 to 17k depending on the up close condition.

Thanks HybridSS,
The car is located in Texas. I have been doing some searching on LS1 for the past couple of hours. I didnt realize how bad the 10 bolt rears are in those cars. Should it hold for awhile at these power levels?

The car will never see slicks of course, maybe some TR events or weekends with DR's.

I havent told any of my Oval Boys yet. ssssshhhhh!!!
I might get banned from the Ford forum. We'll see, we are still working out some
of the details on the trade still. Hell, I havent even driven an SS yet, I might go test drive one this week at some dealer, if I can find one.

the ten bolt is a crap shoot. I went 10.3 at 135 on mine with a six speed and 1.44 sixty foot. One of the axles did get twisted slightly though.

Others break them on the street. Wheel hop is real bad for these rears. But you will probably be ok. If it breaks parts are usually cheap.

Why did he put a new motor in it? Other wise looks ok. I just wonder how bad it was abused....

plus one on the abused part

m6's have much more problems with the rear than the auto's do

i bought mine with 28k miles on it last year from a family friend for 15k. it was immaculent. 2 weeks later i got 2 offers for 17k. might give you an idea what people might be willing to pay for a mint SS. keep in mind mine is STOCK. i just threw in a k&n, lol

i went from this car

to this car

Only if you consider 1.4 60's soft.

Keep in mind his car has drastic weight reduction, and a th400 tranny. There is no over drive or lock up and you cannot drive that car every day and not worry.

Actually Al's car is reliable now. Its got a basically cam only motor. The only bad part is you just cant go very fast down the interstate because of the tranny/ stall/ gear combo.

honestly, was going to have to put a motor in it again, and it wasnt the MOST reliable car ive owned. i started learning on that car and went from knowing how to do oil changes to pulling the trans and motor in 2 years.

i moved to tampa and am now going to USF and didnt want to bother with wrenching on it in an aparment complex parking lot without my toolboxes. engineering classes are enough of a pain in the ass

trust me, i miss it everyday

well guys..... I just found out some interesting info on the SS.

Come to find out the car has a rebuilt title!!! I even asked the asshole if the car was ever in an accident before.. "NOPE, it has a clean title". What a dick!

He bought the car from Oklahoma and just got the car retitled in Texas. That's how it has a clean title. Gotta love CarFax!!

Any idea what a rebuilt SS would be worth??? Now I just wonder what else is wrong with the car he isnt telling me.

Well, back to selling the mustang I guess!!! :-(

dont buy a rebuilt title car. Youll never know the extent of the damage. Plus, on a unibody car, its hell... They arent worth shit.

I knew it sounded too good to be true, and rebuilt doesnt mean crashed. I would still do it, but look at it in money value, how much is the fox worth? that ss being rebuilt is now in the $9k's is the fox worth that much? if it worth more tell the guy that you want money on top, and make sure you get that SS inspected by somebody who knows F-Bodies, rev ex would be a good place to get it inspected.
